The water line shut is usually behind the unit.Pull it out from wall. Just turn clockwise to shut the water off. Depending on your model you can turn the ice maker off by letting up the handle in the ice tray. That shuts it off from making ice.Newer models have a button on door that reads ice off.But if it's leaking water.Shut water off and left handle up or ice off at door. That way it's not trying to make ice.

Make sure the freezer is at least 17 degrees or colder (colder is better). If you have a square cover on the end of the ice maker see if you can pull it off and press on the gear face (don't turn just press). That may clean the electrical contact springs and get it working again. Basically if ya got water, 17 degrees or colder you will get ice. Other than that the ice maker motor module is likely bad (broken gear, etc.). Pretty common.

sjlobo, sounds like your defrost drain pan is frozen over or has some gunk in it. When the unit goes into defrost the water is running onto the freezer floor and out the front. Remove the lower bin and check the drain hole. You may have to remove the freezer back panel. If you can, just use some very hot water and some sort of baster to unfreeze the drain. Check this first, Catriver..post back.

When the ice maker calls for water it'll be filling for about 7 seconds if is more the ice maker inside control board is bad , but if there's water in the ice maker all the timeeven after or before it calls for water it means that the water valve (solenoid) that supplies water to the ice maker is leaking and you have to replace it.

ok you have a blocked freezer drain. The best thing to use to clear this is 'curtain wire (the plastic coated wire you use to hold up net curtains). Ok you need to find the drain hole in the "small tray on the back wall inside that fills and freezes and then the water is overflowing at this point to the bottom of freezer" you want to gentley feed the curtain wire down the hole untill the water drains down there. If you can't get the wire down you may need to turn the unit off to defrost as it could be frozen solid with ice. cheers
