SOURCE: power light blinks red - tv will not come on

I bought one of these tv's at a thrift store and it had the same problem, orange light blinking and static sound coming out of the speakers, no video at all.
The problem was the power supply board, this power supply has multiple outputs that feed the circuitry, 12V, 24v, 5V.
There was nine electrolitic capacitors I had to replace to fix it, all of them were bulged they are easy to spot, I measure one of them that was supposed to measure 1000uF but measured only 65uF. you can buy these from digikey for about 50 cents each, they need to be rated at 105 deg c and the profile has to be below the heat sink otherwise they will hit the top of the heat sink, the spacing between the leads has to be 5mm so they fit in the pcb. I replaced 3 1000uF/25v, 3 470uF/16v and 3 1000uF/16v and that fixed the problem, I bought this tv broken for 100 bucks fixed it with 6 bucks.
Good luck, don't perform repair if you are not familiar with dangerous AC voltage inside the TV.

I have a 72 inch toshiba flat screen tv when turning it on the green light flashes it comes on then go right back off

I have researched the owners manual and it states to recheck the lamp door and make sure the lamp is seated properly and that the door is closed tight. I can email you the manual if you do not have one.

[email protected] Lawrence Brown

If any of the following conditions exist, turn off the TV, unplug the power cord, and repeat steps 1-9 to ensure that the lamp unit and lamp unit door are installed correctly:
• No picture • Dark picture • TV will not turn on
If, after repeating steps 1-9, the problem still exists:
• In the U.S., call TACP consumer solutions at 1-800-631-3811.
• In Canada, locate the nearest Toshiba authorized service depot by directing your web browser to www.toshiba.ca; click "Home Entertainment," and then click "Support."

TV picture is red.

Normal color picture is composed with 3 colors R-G-B (Red-Green-Blue). Picture turns Red means: Missing Green and Blue colors (many reasons: bad contacts, projector tubes dead, and other...). Try to give some "tabs" to diagnose ... I don't know what is the type of your Projection TV, how long you owned it, to have more idea.

Projection lights

You need to take the Toshiba remote that came with the machine and go into a menu area that deals with convergence. Here's what the manual says:

This TV used 3 separate TV tubes, red, green, and blue. The R, G, and B images are pojected onto the screen wheree they converge to form a full-color picture. You can see a clear picture only when the three images converge correctly. Corvergence my drift over time, or if yo move the TV. I you can see clear images on your TV screen skip this procedure.

Make this adjustment only after the TV as been on for at least 30 minutes.

Press the TOUCH FOCUS (auto convergence) button on the front of the TV at the bottom.
The TV will enter into the convergence mode and adjust the converge automatically (that's what it says.)

TO ADJUST IT MANUALLY:

Press MENU, and the press < or > until the PICTURE menu appears.
Then press UP or DOWN to highlight CONVERGENCE.
Press < or > to display the Center Convergence menu

There's a lot more the book says, but, I can say from experience that you just go through the different sub areas of this menu and converge each color separately, and bingo, it's fixed.

Good luck.

OPEARTING MANUAL

Try this download site:
http://tesc.toshiba.co.uk/Web/Website.nsf/ContentFrameSet?OpenFrameset

Its for the latest model Toshiba have on their projector TVs. And if that doesnt work try any of the models which have the 61 prefix as there are two others. If that doesnt work email Toshiba UK or whichever country you are in.
