Question about Samsung Televison & Video

Samsung UN60JS7000FXZA TV. The standby light is on but the TV will not come on.

I opened up the back and didn't see anything obvious like bulging capacitors. There is a clicking sound on the power board and an intermittent humming noise from what appears to be the t-com board.

Start by trying to reset your TV. Disconnect the power cord from the outlet, then press and hold the power button on the TV (not the remote), for at least 10 seconds. Then wait a few minutes and plug the TV back in and press power once. 2 blinks on Samsung TV's usually indicates a bad power supply.

SOURCE: Which Replacement Power Board for LNT4665F Samsung LCD TV?

Howdy,
It would be a lot cheaper if you just replace the two caps that have gone bad. Just get a cheap solder pencil from the store and about an inch of solder and you are in business.
The Power Supply Board is the center Board (towards left) after you remove the back off the TV. Remove Board from TV with the 6-7 screws. Replace capacitors CM852 & CM853; 2200ufd 25volts.

Thaks for using FIXYA, BIG IRISH.

In almost all cases where the set is taking a long time to turn on and then turning off it will be the Power Supply board that will have bulging capacitors, usually three to five. Look on the upper right side of the Power Supply and look for any blown caps. You can replace these caps and you will be fine. Now the other cause can be the Power Switch is shorting out. You can disconnect the the Power Switch but not the IR sensor and then turn ON the set with your TV remote and see if this stops the problem. If you are not skilled in component level repair on the Power Supply board then buy a new Power Supply board and install it.

SOURCE: Samsung LN46A550 LCD power on/off

Apparently this is a known problem with flat panel TVs made a few years ago due to bad capacitors in the power supply. This same problem appeared in computer mother boards at about the same time so that the capacitors went open or shorted causing problems. There is videos on You Tube that addresses this problem see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZccykxrtX9g as a starting point and look around for other repairs

My samsung plasma tv powers on has sound and a picture, but is snowy, and coloring is slightly off. I have opened the tv to check for bulging caps and have found no obvious culprits. what next?

Snowy pics are not the symptom of bulging caps.
you must mention what type of source produces 'snowy' pics.
have you tried with other sources and ports ?

I recommend, you test out the following.
- DVD with Component connection
- HDR or STB with HDMI
- TV/Antenna

My tv showing an amber light instead of red standby light and now it won't switch on

Good day!!!

That problem is usually cause of faulty capacitors on the power supply board..

Just follow this instruction to fix your TV..

1. Open the back cover of your TV.
2. Look at the power supply board..Its normally connected to the power cord..
3. After that,,try to look at the actual image of capacitors if it is bulged on the top so that you can easily determine the bad capacitors..
4. After that,,try to replaced the bad capacitors using soldering iron and soldering lead..replaced the capacitors only with the same type ratings and value..
5. Some of the capacitors not bulged so its better if have a capacitance meter

Optima ep716 power light flashes green but cannot turn on projector?

The green flashing light is jsut indicating it is in standby mode.

Just double check the connectors are in place and do not have any damaged pins. If the input is active from a laptop- make sure you have the external monitor enabled- some you have to manually enable, some you merely need to have the monitor plugged into it.

If all of that is okay and functioning, and it still will not get out of standby, open the unit and check the wiring to the DB15 connector for a broken wire, If those check out, visually inspect the power supply for any bulging electrolytic capacitors- if any are found, replace them with high ripple current types.
