My Sony VAIO couldn't open my .rar archive, cause of the size of file was very huge. My laptop freezes at opening, I couldn't solve this issue. I have to find some rar program or opener or even viewer. But I don't know where to search.
Try this guide below or useful sources from Google and Yahoo...

https://rar.recoverytoolbox.com/
Open the file in WinRAR (download from internet if you don't have one).
Press your right mouse-button.
Click on "Repair archive", or press Alt+R.
Click on Browse button and select a folder where you want to keep the repaired archive.
There will be two options ("Treat the corrupt archive as RAR" and "Treat the corrupt archive as ZIP").
Select any one of your choice (or see which one will work) and click on OK button.
Go to the folder where you have kept the repaired archive and open it (Repaired archive will be named as rebuilt.*.rar or rebuilt.*.zip, where * is the name of original archive).

SOURCE: how to open sony vaio-pcv-w101/w to replace bad ram?
Try this:
STEP 11
Lift up and remove notebook display panel.
STEP 12
Remove hard drive cover, memory cover and modem cover from the bottom of the notebook. Each cover is secured by one screw.
STEP 13
Here’s how you can remove the hard drive. Remove four screws securing the hard drive caddy to the base assembly. Slide the hard drive down to disconnect it from the motherboard. Lift up and remove the hard drive.
STEP 14
Removing memory modules (if needed). Carefully spread latches on both sides of the memory slot. The memory module will pop up at 30 degree angle. Pull the memory module from the slot by the edges.
Removing modem card (if needed). Remove two screws securing the modem card. Lift up the modem card to disconnect it from the motherboard and unplug cable from the side.
Hope this Helps

SOURCE: I need to open my sony vaio model pcg-8f1l laptop.
Okay, on a model pcg-8f1l, most of the goodies, RAM, CPU, etc are accessible through discrete panels in the back, bit the keyboard and much of the bapanel stuff is accessed by removing the speaker perforated shroud (one small screw on the left and thebn slide the shroud to the right. This gives you access to the keyboard and at least have to the scress that keep the upper and lower halves together. The rest of the screws are sprinkled arount the rear case. Good luck a keep track of which screws go where.
