Depends on breed as some chew even after puppy stage, some breeds shed more while since like Poodles are hypoallergenic. Some breeds like Labs tend be excessively active more like puppy energy even in the senior years! Look at my tip about Pets! Have a few things there to better help you decide and always feel free to pick my brain for more! Too tired to extend more on it atm. But my tip will be a lot of a head start :-)

What information should I write on my dog's id tag?

I have heard it said you should not write the dog's name on it as if the person who finds the dog will know its name. If you don't put the name you have a better chance of proving the dog is yours if someone decides to keep it.(Dogs are intelligent and learn their names and how you say them) You SHOULD however put your cell number (or landline number if you are not planning on changing it) This way someone who finds your loved pet can contact you and arrange for you to collect him/her. You could have engraved on the reverse something like -
"Reward paid for return"
Hope that helps.

Apart from expensive products at the vet....are there any other methods for getting your dog immune or unattractive to ticks?

Many pet supply retailers stock a variety of products or method advice for Tick control. However I think the best advice is to cosult a Vet. before using any product on your dog that may claim to meet your needs as product might just harm him instead. If a Vets answer is not what you belive is best for your pet. Then I suggest you do as much research on a product as you possibly can. Never go in blindly!
