When I put in a CD or DVD on my Polaroid PDM-0743 star loading but after a while have a error. DAD DISC or NO DISC, any ideas what should be the prolem?

if you have a dvd lens cleaner tried to clean it first. if still no disc error, look for the spindle motor if it is rotating while you are playing with a disc. if not, check for motor worn out at this time you will need to remove the cover to access the internal part.

ur dvds laser pickup unit have some problem. first of all check the spindle motor which rotate the cd. there is chance to motor become faulty. when u insert dvd the motor will not rotate it the required rpm. if its ok then laser pickup unit have to be replaced

First thing-- try a disc drive cleaner (available at electronics stores) OR if you can see the laser lens when you open the tray you can clean it with a Que-tip and some rubbing alcohol.
If that doesn't work, let me know.

it might be the type of CD. Make sure it is a DVD-R not a CD-R cd.

Try cleaning the lens with a DVD Disc Cleaner or Methylated Spirit and a Q-tip, rub the lens slowly in a clockwise motion, leave to dry and put in a DVD, if it doesnt work try a CD but make sure they dont have any scratches or dust on them, if a CD works ( or not ) then your lens is knackered.

either needs to be clean or the REGION needs to be set up to 1 or ALL , LETS TRY WITH cleaning the OPTICAL LENS with a dry Q tip , gently rub a few strokes at the lens , and give it a try, if NOT then try to set the REGION to 1 or all, if still not reading the disc , then have to replace the optical lens, good luck , AJ

I have finally fixed ya you BAD DISC error message on the Polaroid PDM-0743 ok, listen carefully, first try cleaning the eye lens in the dvd player with a Que Tip with "distilled water" or with "rubbing alcohol" and then let dry, put movie in, turn power on, and it MIGHT WORK? but my guess it will still say BAD DISC, so if that happends it's take apart time you will only need one tool <p><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v609/goodold56/Tools.jpg"></p> Take out the battery and Flip the unit over where the DVD players LCD SREEN is sitting on your lap you should find alot of black screws just un install the screws on the back <p><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v609/goodold56/backofplayer.jpg"></p> but wait take this sticker off too. <p><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v609/goodold56/sideofpalyer.jpg"></p> and after that <p><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v609/goodold56/laserlensscrew.jpg"></p>

I turn it on and all i get is a blue screen. It will loading disc and say bad disc.
