Hitachi 32HB6J51U no picture; inverter, mainboard or T-con?

Hi there, I've owned a Hitachi 32HB6J51U for about 18 months and all was fine until last night when the screen went black but I could still hear sound. After leaving it unplugged all night it did work momentarily this morning, but after 5 minutes or so the picture was lost again. Since then it does work momentarily after leaving it unplugged for a few hours. I have tried the torch method but I don't seem to be able to see an image on the screen. I've opened up the TV down to the LEDs and they all work when I power up the TV, and I can also see light through the vents at the back when the screen goes black. This leads me to believe the LEDs are fine and there is a problem with one of the boards. It looks as though the TV has a combined PSU and inverter Vestel 17IPS62 and separate main board Vestel 17MB110. There is also what I believe is a t-con connected to the screen at the bottom of the unit. At the moment I am thinking I need to replace the inverter/power supply board but I don't have much experience in repairing TVs and can't be sure. Is there a possibility that the t-con could be causing the problem? Thanks in advance.

It does sound to me like the T-Con. If you can change the channels even though you can't see the picture then that's is a T-Con problem. Especially as you can see the lights. Before replacing any of the boards check for bad solder joints and poor connections between the boards, as the TV does sometimes function right.

I have the same problem. The only way to get the TV to come on is to unplug it, but once you get it back on it turns itself off again in a few minutes.

SOURCE: My Visio L32HDTV10A that's 5

I delt with 3 vizios with the same problem. For all three, I had to install an internal cooling fan (server type) and run a 12v adaptor to the exterior of the tv case. Everyone I did this for was ok with this as they always had a power strip or second outlet to power on the fan. The overheating sensor is located on the power supply, but without additional cooling of some type this sensor will trip every time.

I've also recommended that some people put a fan behind the tv while it is in operation (if you can stand the noise).

I wish a had a easier fix for you, but this was the only thing that worked on this type of problem that I've seen many times in the past. Board repairs and replacements would yield the same problem due to the heat being trapped internally.

Thank you and best of luck!

hi,
You can suspect three things in you tv for this fault .. One is the Balck light inverter board And the disply driver ( T- con ) Board. You have mensioned that there is back light when the picture become blank. You have to check the same one more time and confirm that the back light is working perfectly. If you seems the backlight is ok then the problem is with t-con board or faulty electrolytic capacitors in the power supply board . you have to check for any faulty budged electrolytic capacitors in the inverter board and in the power supply board. IF found such capacitors replace the same will solve the problem. If there is no such capacitor found then you have to check the T-CON board.

T - con board is one which drives the pixels in the rows and colums of the LCD panel. You will find this T-con board in the bottom middil side of the TV. It will be coverd by a metal case or an aluminium ( to protect from inerfearence). There will be a connection from the mother board to this board And other two connectionsfrom this board will go to the LCD pannel. There is no repair possible with this T-con board. It should replaced as a moudule. Have added the picture of faulty budged electrolytic capacitors how its looks , inverter board and T-con board.

Hitachi lcd 26 l26d103 lcd tv has sound, but flashing white screen no picture. on both dvd and tv

Hi:
This problem is due to a inverter board, one or two capacitors on the inverter are going bad, look for caps that are puffy on their tops as they all should be flat, also check the T-Con board for faulty conditions as well, when this board goes bad it causes unusual problems.

I have an Insignia NS-42LCD that gets no audio and no video. The power button acts just like it should if the TV was working (red when off, blue when on). I've replaced 4 capacitors on the power board...

Dead T-CON can cause it to show no pictures also.
Here is the example of 37 Insignia that has no picture due to bad T-CON board:
http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/INSIGNIA/Insignia%20NS-LCD37HD-09/

Please read my guide to understand how LCD TV works.
First, look at the screen in darkened room to see if you can see any slight glow from the screen, if it does, then the problem can be the T-CON (not getting the 12vdc) or the main logic board not feeding the signals to the T-CON board.
if not, next place to check will be the power supply module, make sure it has 24vdc which is required by the backlight inverter to work, the reason for not having 24vdc can be from bad DC filter caps (leaking/bulging top, high ESR) or short circuits in the inverter board which will cause the 24vdc supply to go into shutdown mode, so you may have to disconnect the power cable that feed the inverter board to see if the 24vdc will work without the inverter board hookup, you will need to apply about 3~4 amp of load to the 24vdc to make sure it can handle that. There are fuses on the backlight inverter boards also. So there is some troubleshooting you will have to do to find out the causes of the problem you are having.

I have no picture on my hitachi lcd tv sound is fine

It may have lost the 24vdc power supply for the inverter circuits or the inverter boards have gone out.
