SOURCE: my acer aspire 5535 screen keeps going blank
I had this problem. Laptop has been running for 24 hours and not a problem :-)
>Visit http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/downloads.html
>Once on the website, select the Aspire 5535
>Then use the drop down and select "Bios Update for Vista" and select v1.04
>Once download is complete, extract to a temporary folder (eg create a folder in program files and extract there).
>Once this is down, go to the folder and open:
>ATI folder
>x86 folder
Ensure all other applications are closed.
>then run the CP2A_104 application.
Let this complete, the system then should reboot.
Once your back on, you should be good to go. This is a reminder, this may not work on all systems but it did on mine. You do this at your own risk and I accept no responsibility for any problems occured. If in doubt, refer to the Acer support line.
I wish you all the best as I know how much of a pain in the arse this problem is.

ACER PICTURE PROBLEM – MY SOLUTION
I had a similar problem, but I got a picture before it broke up and went off. The screen was backlit, but no video (screen was receiving some power).
The LCD needs a very stable voltage to work, this is provided through the LCD connector ribbon. In my case the ribbon was damaged and replaced it.
I have had no problem since.
I discovered this through trial and error; I first changed my transformer power supply and then the video inverter card.

Possibly the monitor is defective - usually most laptops have a blue plug at the back for an external monitor, if plugging in a normal monitor brings up a screen, then likely the laptop monitor is defective. If you get a splash screen and bios info on trying to start it,it indicates your windows is defective or has lost it's start-up files - a windows reinstall will fix that.

Try reseating the RAM, it may need reseating to make proper electrical connection.
If this doesn't work, take out the RAM and take it to your friendly computer shop to test the RAM to see if it is faulty.
