SOURCE: water dispenser inside fridge does not dispense water

Are the water inlet / outlet correctly fitted onto the filter ??
Sounds silly - but very easy mistake seen several times.
Is the water supply for the filter turned on . . remove hoses from filter to verify. - YOU WILL GET WET.

SOURCE: maytag side by side fridge water dispenser not working

there are two water inlet valves on the back of refrigerator, one for icemaker the other for water in door. the valve for the water inlet is plugged or the soelinoid coil is bad. replace faulty valve, usually about 20 to 30 greenbacks at the appliance parts store

SOURCE: Front ice/water dispenser stopped working.

I had the same problem. Turned out to be a microswitch under the lever used to activate it. The microswitch fell from the original position so it wasn't turning on anything. I tried gluing into position but the fumes from the crazy glue messed up the switch and I had to replace the whole rig.
The part is under the control display. You can pry it open from the left side.

check the solenoid in the back of the fridge also if you have a filter installed on it, make sure it is not clogged.

No Water going in to the fridge

Hi Norm,

Most fridges don't need a motor to run in order to dispense water. A simple on / off solenoid on the water line (same for the ice maker) that makes a click when changing from off to on and on to off is usually all anyone hears (the ice maker makes rumbling sounds and you can hear ice falling into the bin - too).

Check for ice. If it has a maker and it is making ice, the problem could be a defective water dispenser switch, solenoid or other circuit component or wire. If no ice, I'd suspect a filter or water supply issue.

Make sure the filter is fully inserted and twisted into place. Many filters have marks to align when 1) inserting and 2) to let you know when it is installed correctly. When sure it is installed correctly - try to dispense water again. Many fridges will dispense water without a filter. Check your manual before trying this though! If not working still, remove the filter and try to dispense water. If you're able to dispense water, the problem is either the installation of the filter or the filter itself. Try to re-install it correctly. Try to dispense water again.

If it still doesn't work - call the plumber back and ask why there's no water. Or - try this yourself:

Locate the point of attachment to the domestic water supply that the plumber used. There should be a valve to turn the water on and off. If off, turn ON. Try to dispense water again.

If that doesn't work - check to see if the fridge has pinched, kinked or crushed the water supply line. You may need to move the fridge forward to gain access to the water line and connection point on the fridge. Repair or replace the line as needed and route in such a way that moving the fridge in or out will not cause it to damage the line again.

Good luck!

The water dispencer on my fridge is dripping. Is there a procedure to open and clean the valve?

It's the water inlet solenoid - bottom rear of fridge. Sounds crazy as you would think it's something at the dispenser, but it's not.

The dispenser only activates the open/close of the solenoid.

Switches on kitchen aid refrigerator dispensers not working.. ice maker is working, but will not dispense ice or water

Sounds like the water has been turned off, or the solenoid valve (located at water entrance to fridge) has failed. you should hear a solid snap from that solenoid when water is called for by pressing the dispensing switch. You can test the solenoid by unplugging the fridge and measure the resistance across the solenoid terminals. If it measures 200-500 ohms it is ok. if it measures open the solenoid has failed and needs to be replaced.

Water dispenser and ice maker are not working, water supply to refrigerator is ok.

Check / replace the filter. Many fridges have a filter readily accessible from the fresh food compartment. The filter should be changed at regular intervals for best performance. A filter that is never changed will reduce and eventually stop water flow through it.

Check the temperature of the fresh food compartment near the filter. It may be "flirting" with the 32 degree mark. If it is this low, water has turned to ice - and will stop water from flowing. Bump the temperature up a tad to see if it solves the problem.

Lastly, the water supply solenoid may have failed. You didn't provide the model fridge - so I can't give specific info about it - but many fridges have one or two solenoids at the rear of the fridge for water supply and ice makers. You should hear a clicking sound from the rear of the fridge on many models when dispensing water or when the ice maker cycles on. If one has failed, you may expect to pay about $15 to $50 for a replacement - depending model.

Typical GE Refrigerator Single Solenoid Water Inlet Valve "WR57X10033"

Solenoid valve replacement is pretty straight forward. Usually all the is needed are some simple hand tools and a rag to pick up spilled water. Make sure the water supply is shut off and unplug the fridge before attempting.

What to do if water does not dispense from water dispenser

A couple of things to check: If equipped with an automatic ice maker - is ice being made? If so, the water supply to the fridge is OK. If not, look for a problem in the supply line (is it kinked, crushed, or is the water shut off)? Is the filter clogged? Some fridges will pass water w/o a filter installed - see if your will by removing the filter and try to get water from the fridge.

If ice is being made, the problem lies with the water "circuit" in the fridge (the solenoid, water lines, filter etc.). When water is dispensed from the fridge into a glass, a small solenoid valve on the drinking water line opens to allow water to flow. Many times, you can hear the "click" of the solenoid valve both when it is opening (on) and closing (off). If you used to hear it, and now no longer can, it indicates a problem with the electrical circuit that is activated when you try to dispense water. This electrical circuit consists of the switch, wiring and solenoid coil itself. The wiring will seldom fail - but those parts that physically move (the switch and solenoid) are very likely candidates for failure. You should obtain the schematics for your fridge and get a volt meter to troubleshoot the switch and solenoid. Of course, you could purchase both the switch and solenoid and replace them one at a time; and have a reasonable expectation that one will probably solve the problem.

Good luck!

WATERS NOT COMING OUT

Possible reasons:

Water lines frozen.
Defrosting the fridge completely will fix the problem.

Inlet valve at the back of the fridge faulty or blocked.
Replace or unclog main water inlet valve.

Water valve or solenoid in water dispenser assembly faulty.
Replace or fix water valve or solenoid located in water dispenser assembly.

No agua !

you would have to start with the water supply.
check if you have water coming to the fridge.

close the tap going to the fridge, open the line to the solenoids and open the tap. if there is water then supply is ok.

next check if there is power going to the water solenoid . ( this is different from ice maker solenoid) be sure to know which one.

press the dispenser, there should be power to the solenoid and solenoid should click open. if there is none, electrical problem is present.

last thing to check is the micro switch in the dispenser.

it should have contact when you press the dispenser.

tnx 4 using fixya,
