Simply hold down the button you want to use (there are 3 for up to 3 different garage doors) until the light flashes and keep holding it down. Now place the garage door opener up near the sun visor and hold it's button down until the light on the on button you are programming flashes. It is now programed. The other 2 are done the same way. Good luck. It took me a while to find the info, it's not in any Volvo manuals I could find.

1000 miles, sevices go in this order, 1st service is an oil change and the second service is a full service, they go in the order of every second 1 is a full service

SOURCE: Just purchased a 2001 Volvo V70 XC wagon with auto

The reason it is suggested to take it to the dealer is that the tranmission fluid is a synthetic. There is no serviceable filter on your transmission. For a drain and fill (3.5 Quarts) the fluid itself is about 70 bucks. To flush it is around 350-400 depending on where you take it. You can use a Mobil equivelant fluid ATF 3309 that has the same specs. Biggest thing to watch out for is to make sure it is filled THROUGH THE DIPSTICK TUBE, no where else. The dipstick is kind of hard to see but its there, right behind the grill, to the left of the air box.

The most common problem is either the blower motor or the speed control resistor. Both items can be accessed by removing the glove box and panel below it.

Will an automatic gearbox from a 2003 Volvo XC D5 be interchangeable with a 2002 Volvo V70 XC T5 automatic gearbox?

The dealer should be able to tell you that. Your VIN will specify what trans you have (it's based on your engine and what country/market you're in) and if the trans is the same behind both engines, you should be ok.

HOWEVER, I thought there was a difference in the 2002 and 2003 cars - at least in the North American market, when it came to transmissions, so I am really not able to answer.

Sadly, checking with the Volvo dealer may be the easiest way to determine this.
