SOURCE: locked memory card

There is a tiny switch located on the side of the memory card, might even say lock on it or beside it. Just flick the switch opposite of the way it is now and it should work fine after that. There might even be a small arrow showing which way to switch it. The reason for the lock button is "just" for this, so you don't accidentally erase some wanted pictures or someone else.

Memory card is locked and cannot delete pictures

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

A few things but the first that comes to mind is that there is a little slid lock on the upper left side of the memory card. This lock needs to be pushed forward towards the gold contacts to unlock the card. Another problem could be tat the 2gig card is full of pictures and needs to be downloaded to your computer. Once this is done the card will need to be formatted to clean the old pictures off and make the card ready for new pictures. I suspect when you take this card out (2gig) the camera defaults to internal memory and yes everything will work as it should until the internal memory is full of pictures as well

I have tried to delete pictures on the memory care

When you pull your card out of your camera, look at it and you should see a little switch that can unlock the card. It is just like the little switch on a 3.5" floppy disk, if you can remember what those are.

Canon SD1200 IS won't save pictures to the memory card.

This Canon uses an SD memory card (previous Canon used CF cards).
The SD memory card has a "slide switch" that locks the card.
Look at the SD memory card and move the switch back and forth, then switch it all the way to the UNLOCK position. Put back in the camera and format the card, then use it.

Since this is a 10Megapixel camera, use at least a 2GB SD memory card. A 2GB SD card will hold 700 pictures, or so, in the best setting.

Hope this helps!

CARD LOCKED

take out the memory card and move the switch located somewhere on the memory card usually on the side to the unlocked position. Then the memory card isn't locked this is so you don't accidentally delete important things
Thanks and enjoy,

Canon A560 will not erase pictures

Two possible solutions.

1. Apple users have reported that the switch on the memory cards performs the file lock function in either extreme positions Lock/Unlock. In some cases they have achieved success in centering the Lock/Unlock switch allowing access to the read/write operation of the memory card

2. Connect to PC
Access drive via windows explorer
Right click on drive (MEMORY CARD)
Select properties
Confirm that RO (Read Only) is not selected.
Selected RO
Try reading card
Repeat properties un-select RO
Try deleting files

If not successful card is likely defective

Hope this helps?

Card Locked ! Error

Remove SD card, then whilst card is removed, delete all pictures that may still be stored in cameras 'internal' memory (usually just a few) then replace SD card. Should be unlocked now?.
