Senco pc1005 air compressor It builds pressure shuts off but then a valve under the control box bleeds down and then it tries to restart and kicks the reset button

  • J Rosado Jun 06, 2018

The compressor can't start up with air pressure backing up into the compressor head. Verify this and replace the check valve. If it still overloads the motor, the power supply conductors may be too skinny or too small Gage.

There is a check valve between the tank and compressor head (output). The bleeder valve drains pressure between the check valve and the head, the check valve holds pressure in the tank from coming back out of the tank and toward the bleeder and head.
You may find this check valve screwed directly on to the tank or just outside the tank.

SOURCE: Mastercraft 2.0 hp air compressor will not build up over 25 psi

sounds like a bad or broken valves in the head. crankcase needs a vent which is sometimes a small hole drilled into the oil fill plug and will normally blow some air out the vent while it runs

SOURCE: Dewalt 4 gal air compressor will not build pressure in take.

The bleed valve is an unloader of sorts that allows the compressor to start with-out a load. It closes when the pressure in the airline reaches about 20-25lbs with good volume. If air volume is not sufficient, the valve will not close. To solve the problem lets do a few tests. A long cord will reduce power and reduce air volume. Try powering the compressor with-out extension cord. If bleed valve closes when you do not use a cord, the compressor is not getting enough voltage, use shorter cord of the 12 gauge quality and more hose to reach work. If valve still does not close, check for air leaks on all fittings including around pressure switch and drain valve with soapy water. Repair as necessary and retest. If no leaks were found, temporarily plug bleed valve port with screw/bolt and run compressor till set pressure cut-off while counting minuites/seconds. The compressor should fill and shut off within three minutes or so. If it takes an unusually long time to fill, then the reed valves /valve plate is worn and leaking pressure back into cylinger. Leaking valves will usually result in very hot discharge airline/air. Reinstall the bleed valve after test. Parts and partslist are available at www.toolpartsdirect.com . Good luck on the repair and email if you have other questions.

this valve works backwards, you screw it out to stop airflow. If that doesn't work, replace the valve.

SOURCE: I have a Bostitch CAP2000P-OF 6 gal compressor.

Something is wrong with your "unloader" I should think. That is the device that removes the pressure from the cylinder so the machine does not have to start up against its full air pressure
There will be a narrow air pipe connecting the compressor to the switch assembly which bleeds off the air when the power is off. That hiss you get when you turn it off or it turns itself off.
I think you will find a leak there or possibly the non return valve that stops all the air escaping when the unloader valve is open has failed or got a foreign body stuck in its seating.

Senco PC1010 fills with air to about 130lb then the unloader valve bleeds air down to about 100lb and compressor starts again cycling. Replaced whole switch assembly and does same thing.

An unloader valve when talking compressors, is used with engine driven compressors when it would be impractical to stop the engine when maximum pressure is reached and restarted when it drops significantly and so the system is designed to keep running and when the maximum working pressure is reached the unloader valve sends compressed air to the special compressor cylinder head where the piston of a small pneumatic ram lifts the compressor intake valve from it's seat preventing it pumping until the pressure falls.

This system is also used with electrically powered units when for reasons of light weight and/or economy the electric motor is under-powered. The unloader valve keeps providing air to the compressor head until the pressure falls which is inevitable as there is invariably leakage...

Adequately powered electrically powered compressors do not need the unloader valve system and instead use a pressure switch that if correctly fitted does not leak or at least should not leak. If your unit leaks listening through a short length of hose will help locate the area of the leak and a little soap solution will narrow the search even further (disconnected from the mains power).

I hav a magnum compressor model ac0205tt103902 two hp , five gallon unit when tank is empty it works well but when using it and it kicks in it kicks 20amp breaker

Compressors are set up so when the motor shuts off the air in the compressor pump head is bled off so the motor can restart easily when the pressure in the tank drops to the restart point. The usual culprit for problems with this system is the tank check valve. It's where the line from the pump goes into the tank. It lets air into the tank then closes when the motor shuts off and the bleed-off valve opens. The spring could be broke or the valve is dirty or jambed. Sometimes they can be cleaned but more often than not they have to be replaced. The bleed-off valve on the pressure switch could be the problem but that's rare. If it is the bleed-off valve, you'll have to replace the pressure switch.

My MAC 700 laboured to kick in to build pressure, and then finally quit. It won't turn on with the switch in the

All compressors dump a little air when they shut off, it's the air in the pump head and discharge tube. This bleed off should only last two to three seconds. If this pressure isn't bled off the motor won't be able to restart when the pressure drops in the tank becuase there will be too much pressure in the pump head for it to start turning again. If you have a longer bleed off or if the motor is struggling to restart most likely you have a stuck or broke check valve. It's the piece where the discharge tube connects to the tank. It's designed to let air into the tank but not back out so the pressure valve can bleed off the air in the pump. On rare occasions you can remove it and clean it out but usually they have to be replaced. You would need Makita Part Number 409004-E.

I would talk to senco, they can probably provide you with a parts diagram or a tech service rep to guide you through the problem. I agree that the problem is probably that valve, but I couldnt tell you what its called.

Compressor runs until overload release valve opens (pressure at 130 psi) and then air escapes until pressure lowers to 100 psi..Then motor begins to restart, but will not , due to 100 psi and kicks breaker...

There is a check valve between the compressor and tank, and there is also an 'unloader valve' which blows the pressure off the compressor so that it starts under little load. I think your check valve is stuck open and the unloader valve is blowing tank pressure off.. and when the compressor tries to start it's starting against the pressure in the tank.

So check/replace/thaw the check valve and you'll be good to go. It's generally at the tank where the line from the compressor head goes into the tank, it'll be between the two somewhere.

Locks up on restart untill the pressure. is down around 50 lbs.and kicks out the breaker

The pressure bleed valve is not working when the compressor shuts off. It is supposed to drain pressure from the compressor air line to the check valve and pressure regulator switch so that the compressor restarts with low pressure in the output line.

My air compressor won't restart

minimum pressure check valve is bad , does the compressor when it shuts off bleed air out at the pressure switch , if so does it continue till it starts back up , if so the unit is trying to start under a load. You have a bad minimum pressure valve usually located where the air line goes into the tank.

Air compressor fills, but slows down as the pressure builds

sounds like you need a new check valve which should be somewhere between the compressor outlet piping, tubing, etc and the tank which prevents the air in tank to back feed to the compressor which would cause hard starting and could damage the motor easy way to check is when you shut off the compressor with some air in the tank if the check valve is bad it would continue to bleed air out out the unloader valve .the unloader valve on your unit is most likely part of the pressure switch when the unit shuts of it should only bleed down the pressure in the pump so it would make it easy to start when needed hope i didn't confuse you

I have worked on many makita compressors and have run-across this problem on a few of them. Your compressor has a check valve that is supposed to hold tank pressure after the switch reaches set pressure. There is an unloader valve built into the pressure switch that releases the pressure in the discharge hose after the unit shuts off. The unloader allows the compressor to restart with-out any pressure in the discharge line. If the brass check valve is leaking pressure back into the system, air will leak out of the unloader valve. Follow the discharge line to the tank and you will see the brass check valve. To test valve for fault, run the compressor till it builds around 80 psi and unplug the unit from the wall outlet. Remove the 1/4" hose connector from the check valve and check for air leaking out of the valve. If it is leaking you can order form www.toolpartsdirect.com. or call the makita 1-800 number. The price is about the same. Good Luck on your repair.
