Canon A95 "Change Batteries" problem!

Hi there,
I have owned the Canon A 95 for almost 2 years now. Since a couple of weeks back its not been working at all. It keeps saying "Change Batteries" even after i put in a new set of batteries. After a few seconds of turning it on, it says Change Batteries and shuts off. Triedputting in new batteris a few times but still no luck. Any help would be highly appreciated!

Yes, my A95 in 3 years old and it suddenly started doing the same thing. The strange thing is that if you switch to picture review mode (instead of taking a picture) the batteries appear to last for ages... even though it's the LCD that's supposed to consume the most energy! If the battery level sensor didn't switch the camera off I think it would be fine.

same problem. I can get a few pictures out of it if I turn off the flash, but even if I'm in auto and it doesn't use the flash, the camera with brand new batteries dies within minutes

Has anyone found a solution to this problem? I have it too. Today I got 32 pictures on a full charge of brand new 2400mAh good quality batteries, before it said "Charge The Batteries" and turned itself off almost immediately. It used to go for hundreds of pictures on a charge until a week or two ago when something happened to it. I don't know what though -- it wasn't dropped, wet, damaged, etc.

I've had my A95 for about 3.5 years, it's worked perfectly without any problems. I've taken somewhere in the range of 25,000 photos with it, so it doesn't owe me a thing, but I'd like to keep using it if I could. I'd appreciate any thoughts or suggestions people might have.

Hi, I am balwant from Delhi. I have the same problem. I previously thought it's a battery problem. But Even after installing new set of chargeable batteries, it's performance was very poor. It took nearly 25 snaps for first time charge. After that Even I recharge my batteries, it's flashes message "Change the batteries".

You need to use 2100 mAH or 2300 mAh rechargeable batteries - alkaline batteries will not maintain the high level of power required.

Canon PowerShot A95 is using up batteries too fast

My experience seems to show that it's not your camera as much as it is that batteries (AA type cells) don't have the "juice" they used to have. Try using the Energizer Ultimate Lithium AA batteries. I've turned many of my customers on to them, and they swear by them!

I don't blame you for wanting to keep it, the A95 was and still is a great camera. This problem sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check this link for more info.

PowerShot A95 does not power on

Here are some simple things to try first for a camera that won't power on. They won't work for every case, but they're worth a try:

Canon A95 "Change Batteries" problem!

I have this problem as well. I thought it was a problem with my NiMH batteries. So, I bought a volt meter to make sure the batteries worked. I have 8 AA NiMH batteries. I charged them all up and tested them with the volt meter. They were all good to go. However, no matter what I put in the camera one of two things happens:
1. I get the "change batteries" message.
2. I don't get the message, but the next time I check the camera (a few days later), one of them is totally drained.
Something is very wrong and I plan on contacting Canon.
