No it is a safety mandated item, replace lock

I had the same problem. I unplugged the machine for a while (overnight) and it then worked properly when I plugged it back in. Probably just a circuit board issue that was cleared with the power removed.

I have the same problem. If I press on the lid by the switch it starts up and finishes the load. Hope this works for you!

This appears to be a 'compact' machine. I can't find anything in the manual about doors inside. I presume it is some type of soap dispenser?

To remove the code, press pause or cancel button twice and the power button once. If the code is still displayed, unplug the washer or disconnect the power for one minute. It sounds like you have a bad lid switch. There is a tech sheet taped to the inside of the front of the cabinet. The part # is w10404050, made by whirlpool.

My washing machine fills up with water but does not continue the wash cycle. Sometimes when you slam the lid the washer will continue the wash cycle to the end. Other times the washer stays filled up...

Sounds like the lid safety switch is either out of adjustment, or needs replacement.

Most washers will fill with the lid open, but no continue a cycle where the drum or agitator spin, unless it senses the lid is closed.
