The error is generated when you enter the wrong HDD passwords multiple times. This requires the password to be reset. The steps below should help you unlock the screen.
1. Select the Enter Unlock Password option on the screen.
2. The laptop generates an Encode Key for unlocking utilities.
3. Type 'Unlock HP ' on the screen to execute the UnlockHD.EXE file to create the unlock code in DOS mode.
4. (for example UnlockHD 12365468)
5. The command generates a password. Unlock the HDD by typing the password in the Enter Unlock Password Key box. To Get instant support Call Our Toll-Free 1-866-293-9220

I think you should try to remove your motherboard battery. After removing the battery you will be able to access your computer. Please try this.

SOURCE: My daughter's Aspire One is

This password is a BIOS password and to reset it you'll need to go into BIOS and do it manually.

If the password comes up before any other loading screens then we'll need to flush the BIOS password cache, but hopefully we can solve everything by going into BIOS.

To enter BIOS hit the F2 key repeatedly as the computer boots up. You should enter BIOS after the first loading screen by Acer. If this does not send you into BIOS, try the DEL and F1 keys. You might also need to hold the F2 and DEL keys together. Once in BIOS find where you can set the password and reset it or enter a blank password as your new password.

If you can't access BIOS or are prompted for a password once you enter BIOS, try the following methods to flush the BIOS password cache:
1. Contact Acer support and ask if they have a backdoor BIOS password that they will allow you to use.
2. Send your laptop to Acer to have them reset the password manually, although this takes an undisclosed amount of time and I believe they will make you pay about $100.
3. If you don't want to pay Acer, open your laptop and locate the motherboard. On the motherboard there is a CMOS battery, if you don't know where this is use your PC manual. Remove the battery for an hour and then place it back on the motherboard. This should reset the password. After this turn on your computer and continuously hit F2, or whatever key you find opens BIOS, while the computer boots. This will reset all your BIOS settings so it may take a few minutes to open. After it is open, just exit BIOS and everything should be working properly.

Thanks for using FixYa and good luck!

Hi,

The hard drive has been locked in the BIOS. If you cannot get into the bios with a password you can contact Dell for a code to unlock the BIOS and drive ... Here is a link that might help.

Acer Laptop, hard disk security locked?

It seems that drive lock for this drive is enabled from BIOS. Is BIOS also password protected? Drivelock can be removed from there.

Recently changed the power supply. There is no video output. Where can I download the motherboard schematic?

Right here at HP Support,

1) Motherboard Specifications:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00361570&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&lc=en&product=459491

Scroll the page down to the top view illustration, and photo.

A) The motherboard uses a 24-pin ATX main power cable.
In the illustration the connector on the motherboard is on the right side.
It is an empty rectangular box with ATX Power Connector in it.

On the motherboard photo it is the rectangular white connector with two rows of 10 socket holes, and is to the bottom right of ram memory slot 2.

Another example of a 24-pin ATX main power cable,

http://www.playtool.com/pages/psuconnectors/connectors.html#atxmain24

Ensure that the 24-pin ATX main power cable's connector, is locked into place on the motherboard's connector. The lock tab on the main power cable must be hooked over the tab on the motherboard connector. This ensures that the main power cable is in all the way.

B) The motherboard uses a 4-pin ATX +12 Volt power cable.
The connector on the motherboard is a white square connector, with 4 socket holes.

In the illustration it is to the bottom left corner of the Processor socket (LGA 775), and has ATX12V underneath it. This power cable's connector also has a lock tab.
Another example of a 4-pin ATX +12 Volt power cable,

http://www.playtool.com/pages/psuconnectors/connectors.html#atx12v4

Power TO the motherboard, that's it.

Power FROM the motherboard:

C) System Fan, and CPU (Processor) Fan.

Abbreviated as SYS_FAN, and CPU_FAN to the bottom left of the ATX12V connector.
(4-pin ATX +12 Volt connector on the motherboard)

The System Fan is the computer case fan.
CPU Fan is the Processor fan.

D) The four SATA headers on the bottom right in the photo, (Blue, Orange, Black, and White), are for the SATA data cables.
They connect to a SATA harddrive, or SATA optical drive. (CD/DVD drive)
(They are an L shaped connector inside, with 7 pins inside)

Power for these SATA devices comes from the Power Supply.
The Power Supply has SATA power cables.
Example of an average SATA power cable,

http://www.playtool.com/pages/psuconnectors/connectors.html#sata

(L shaped connector with 15 pins inside. The longer connector between a SATA data cable, and a SATA power cable )

Did you forget which SATA data cable plugs into where, on the motherboard?
Don't sweat it.

The beauty of SATA is that you can plug the harddrive's SATA data cable into ANY of the SATA headers (Connectors) on the motherboard, and BIOS will find it.
Same with a SATA optical drive, or any SATA device, for that matter.

IF, your SATA harddrive has a place on the back for BOTH, a SATA power cable, and a 4-pin standard Peripheral power cable, ONLY use the SATA power cable.

Using both will eventually burn out the SATA harddrive!

Example of a 4-pin standard Peripheral power cable, (Misnomered as 'Molex'),

http://www.playtool.com/pages/psuconnectors/connectors.html#peripheral

From there the main optical drive, (CD/DVD drive), has to have the audio cable plugged into the audio connector on the motherboard.
(Plus the power cable, and data cable, of course)

In the illustration this is the header down in the very far left corner, and located towards the bottom edge.
It has CD_IN marked underneath it.

In the photo it is the Black rectangular connector in the very far left corner.

If you didn't connect the 4-pin +12 Volt power cable, your Processor isn't getting any power.
No Processor operating, No computer.

No Signal on monitor.
(No video signal)

How do I add a second HD

Turn the machine off
Open the case
Look to see if there are IDE connector (Wide Flat cable with a connector usually grey)
If this is not present look for a SATA connector usually a small red or blue wire similar to a cat5e network cable
Scew your HDD in place in the rack connect the cable either IDE or SATA
If you have an IDE drive look for a 4 pin female connector from the power supply
If you have a SATA drive look for the connector from the power supply
Once all is connected then reboot you computer typically your bios should auto detect it.

Let me know what happens from here

Sata

You must disable the native mode for the SATA in setup mode.
