SOURCE: CST1000 Black & Decker Cordless Trimmer/Edge won't start

http://www.toolpartsdirect.com/cgi-bin/schematic.cgi/blackdecker/CST2000_TYPE_1

Part number #243614-00.
It's a microswitch made by Honeywell that costs about 5 bucks plus shipping.
The attached file has the schematic and parts list.
The CST2000 is well worth spending a few bucks to keep it going. Finding a local B&D authorized service center near you will even save you the shipping as they can order it for you.
Every other component is pretty dependable- the motor, battery, wiring, charging system, spool system- all built to last.
Only down side is you really only get 20 to 25 minutes of hard weedwhacking before you need to recharge. Of course, it's time for a cold beer in the pool by then.

SOURCE: B & D auto feed string trimmer won't advance string

Is the string spool seated on the rachet correctly? If so and all is well, it is worth noting that these trimmers auto feed fuunction is problematic at best, requiring manually unwinding some line every few minutes as the unit gets older.

I had the same problem, there is another screw hidden under the black sticker. If you feel around, there is a soft spot. That's it.

I have a black and decker 20 volt edger lithium batter charged. It is fully charged but it won't start. I squeeze the black button on the handle and nothing happens

Most cordless string trimmers/edgers have a safety lock. For the Black & Decker LST220, you need to push this safety lock button on the top of the edger down and push it forward or pull it back. Keep this button in this configuration and then pull the trigger. Once the edger is running, you can release the safety lock button.

If you have the safety switch in the correct position, check if the battery is fully seated. I know that I've put the battery into a similar trimmer without it being fully engaged. Check if the edger works with a different battery if possible. Batteries will fail over time. If it still doesn't work, the electric motor may have failed.

The manual for the LST220 is available on the product page: https://www.toolservicenet.com/dewalt/en//Black-%26-Decker/OUTDOOR/HEDGETRIMMERS%2C-STRING-TRIMMERS%2C-SHEARS/CORDLESS-STRNG-TRIMMERS//p/LST220.
The current link is https://www.toolservicenet.com/i/BLACK_DECKER/GLOBALBOM/QU/LST220/1/Instruction_Manual/EN/90574016_LST120.pdf .

I hope this helps. To find other manuals for Black & Decker models, try searching for your model at https://www.toolservicenet.com/dewalt/en/ .

I just bought the black and decker string trimmer 20V Max this morning. Went to charge the battery, and the red light on the charger flashed and did this for an hour. What does this mean?

When the light is solid red, the batteries are charging.
A flashing red LED light indicates that the charger detects abnormal batteries or the battery temperature is abnormal.
When the light is a solid green, the batteries have completed their charge.

Replacing the spool of string for my black and decker 12v electric trimer ? grasshog model

If it is the same as my old 12V version, flip it over and look at the bottom, this is the cap for the string, on the sides there are two push button latches, depress and pull the cap off. Then reach in and remove the old spool. Insert the new spool with the circular sawtooth design to the inside and push the end of the string through the hole in the side. Replace cap ensuring that both latches engage.
