the size of the battery that fits in the battery holder is big enough for the job. What you have to do is have the battery load tested as the cold weather kills batteries that are not fully operational
if you can fit a 300 or 350 battery in place then it will help but it must fit without modification to the carrier.
This is posted in cars & trucks but it doesn't sound like you are talking about a vehicle. Sounds like an indoor/outdoor weather station. These can have a limited range. Only suggestion I have is some have a channel selector - try a different frequency, there may be interferance.
Sometimes you can get Autozone, Advance, or Oreillys to put the battery in for you. If you have to do it yourself, disconnect the NEG post first. The red post is a positive. Batteries can be made with the posts reversed. Care must be taken to put the + side with the red positive cable. Batteries have many features, the size is just the start.
