I have about 2 years old Hundai Plasma TV taht is not turning on. When I turn it on light goes on for 20 seconds and then it goes off. I am told (as the solution given for similar problem also asserts), it is Power supply problem.
Is it possible to change only the capacitor as opposed to the whole power supply?

Power supply fault, really need service manual and multimeter to locate components that are causing the issue.
If it was OK when it went into storage then you may have a dry solder joint on one or more components.

TV doesn't work after being in storage
So the TV you carefully stuffed in a corner of the garages is now totally dead. You swear it was working perfectly a year ago.
Assuming there was absolutely no action when you turned it on, this has all the classic symptoms of a bad connection. These could be cold/cracked solder joints at large components like transformers, power resistors, or connectors and connectors that need to be cleaned or reseated. By 'no action' I mean not even a tweet, bleep, or crackle from anything.
To narrow it down further, if careful prodding of the circuit board(s) and various large components with a well insulated stick does not induce the set to come on, even momentarily, check the following:
There is also a slight chance that there is a low voltage regulator in addition to the horizontal output, so don't get them confused. The horizontal output transistor will be near the flyback transformer and yoke connector.
This text refers to CRT tv's but thought it may be helpfull

I have had this problem in some models of plasma sets before. In most cases the power supply and main drive boards had to be replaced. In a small number of cases the failure was the screen itself.
In all cases, the cost of the repair was expensive. For the screen failure, the set was scrapped.

Hello,
Yes I had the same problem, but mine was also video too.
I have worked on these tvs before and found the problem is with the CPU card.
You will need to have fixed or replaced.
Good luck

Hello
There are tow reasons for this fault with Hundai sets. The first one is with "Reset", and the second one is with its power regulator circuit board. As the set is now in OFF condition and no screen is available to get a reset option, the fault will be due to the power regulator board itself.
Open your TV, and locate the power switching regulator board. It can be located very easly, as power cord will go diretly to it after the main panel ON/OFF switch. I'll give you a picture of the picture of a typical power board here. Usually these board are irrepairable, and must replace it as card basis. Check for any bulged capacitors, as shown in the picture, in the power board. If so; replace them. This is the only repairable thing with these type of boards. If there are no such capacitors seen, unplug out each pluged in connections on this board one by one and reconnect it. If any loose connection proble is ther, doing this will rectify it.
If nothing helps you, replace the board. This board will have a number printed on it, which should be noted when buying anew one. The board can be bought from most of the electronic sparepart shops at your town. It can also bought from the Authorised Service center for Hundai also. OK.
