Professor Layton & the Curious Village Games for DS: Are these games for older people?...

The Professor Layton games appeal to a wide age range with some fans of the series being in their 50s and 60s (although the biggest age group are players in their mid to late teens and early twenties)

Whether you would enjoy these games largely depends on whether you'd enjoy solving the types of puzzles the game offers

While most of the puzzles are logic puzzles, they also include sliding block puzzles, matchstick puzzles, river crossing puzzles, chess puzzles, etc

You may find it useful to look over the popular illustrated walkthroughs so you can see for yourself the types of puzzles the games use along with the graphics and general style of play (which largely involves going around talking to other characters and finding optional hidden hint coins)

With recurring characters, a sub-plot running through a trilogy and a significant spoiler in the second game, it's best to start with the Curious Village (which is also the cheaper entry point)

How can you get back to puzzles missed in Professor Layton and Pandora's Box

Any missed puzzles will either still be in their original location or (as the game points out) in Granny's Shack

During the train and Dropstone sections, Granny uses a smaller portable shack

Once Folsense is reached, some players overlook Granny's full size shack seen here
http://professorlayton2walkthrough.blogspot.com/2008/11/puzzle129.html#photograph008

Additionally, once you reach Folsense, you can't return to the earlier locations and any missed puzzles from these locations will be in the shack

If you've finished the story, the game puts you back to before the ending so you can return to Folsense and finish whatever has been missed

Some players overlook that you can walk around (and leave the castle) instead of talking to Katia (which initiates the ending again)

You can see where to leave the castle here
http://professorlayton2walkthrough.blogspot.com/2008/11/puzzle137.html

You can use the walkthrough's puzzle index (down the right side) to find where any missing puzzles are (if the puzzle is no longer in the location shown then it will be in the shack)
