it sounds like it might be an internal problem I had the same issue with my camcorder it wouldn't charge or work with the charger unfortunately if that is the problem it would have to be repared or maybe just replaced because if you send it to the company to repair its likely to cost the same to repair it then what you paid for it
Well, yes there is a solution to this, but it still will cost you some bucks.
This sounds like you have a bad battery.
Usually when you have a bad charger, the same things happen that you describe. Only difference is your system won't come back on if the battery has fully died.
In your situation the battery does come on, but not for long. Which leads me to believe your charger is still working, however your defective battery is only being charged to a certain level.
I would recommend you use another battery with the same charger and see if you get the same results.
IF YOU DO..
Try a different charger.
If you're still experiencing the same results with a new charger and battery, then I'm afraid the problem is your charging port. If so, you would have to have this system repaired.
this could be one or the other , both would have the same effect , i would recomed trying someone elses charger to see if that is the problem , and if not it might be the f1 or f2 fuse on the motherboard of the ds..
Hey if you have a warranty nintendo might repair or raplace the Ds.I thought about replacing the charger or place the charger in another power outlet.I hope I helped.
Are you leaving the DS charge until the light comes off? Remember that there are two likes too, one for charging and one for power. If you're just charging for some random period of time (lets say... One hour) then your Battery isn't going to be fully charged. The best way to ensure that your DS Lite is charged is to leave it charge until the charge light turns off. You can play your DS Lite while you are charging (I do it all the time), but it just means that you're just running off of the outlet.
A good test is to charge it fully (until the charge light comes off), unplug the charger cord (Make sure it's secured tightly to your DS while charging), then play for a little bit, your light should be a normal color (green).
If you cannot even play by using the outlet, then you need to find a charger cord that actually works (You may need to send in the charger for replacement). If the same thing happens with 2 different batteries (assuming that you have two official Nintendo batteries).
TIP: Also run your fingers across the Charger cord. You're going to get a slight friction burn from the rubber, but you're going to get all of the kinks out of the wire in the cord. My charger cord had a similar problem (did not charge all the way, only charged until I moved the DS) but when I ran my fingers across it (pinching) it worked again.
Also check the pins in both charger cords, charging will not work if one pin is missing, nor if any are bent.
When I hooked up my DS with the charger the orange light would flicker for only a few seconds then turn off.
I found out that if you KEEP THE DS ON WHILE HOOKED UP the DS will charge. Although, because you are playing/DS is on the charging will go extremely slowly.
Best option, and what I did, was was just return/exchange it. I just did that today.
I know that this is probably not the answer you guys want to hear about this issue...
You're going to have to contact Nintendo and make good on your warranty on this one. Just tell them that the unit is no longer charging and that you 'don't know why'. They should have no real problem replacing it for you.
This is most likely an internal electronics issue that no expert here is going to be able to advise on.
Unfortunately the internet still isn't good enough that we can do solder jobs over our internet connections. :P
=THIS IS NOT A PROPOSED FIX. DO NOT RATE ME FOR IT= Otherwise, if you wish to persist in trying to fix your problem, the only thing that I can tell you is to either try using someone else's charger adapter, buy a new adapter OR use an adapter that works and hold it at different positions in the DS Lite to see if any position will charge it. If you are succesful at charging it in this manner then the port you plug the charger into may be loosened.
===DO NOT RATE ME FOR THIS POST. IF YOU GIVE ME A POOR RATING FOR THIS
POST I WILL DISPUTE IT WITH THE FIXYA STAFF AND ASK THAT IT BE
REMOVED. I AM NOT ATTEMPTING TO SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM BUT AM GIVING YOU
ADVICE ON WHAT YOUR BEST BET IS. I WILL however accept a GOOD rating if it is given - naturally. LOL===
