Ron watkins,
If the tank fill there is surely air inside the tank and gauge must show as normal, if there is air inside the tank it will deliver with the outer plug. so here no pressure is developing inside the tank,,,,Check the both inlet and exit reed valve, either one is faulty....replace with new,
this will work..
with regards,
jaijith

SOURCE: Air pressure gauge does not move on Craftsman 1Hp, 12 Gal. Air Co

I would say that the gauge needs to be replaced. These are common items so go to any auto parts or craftsman hardware store and purchase a replacement.

be sure to use some joint compound or teflon tape on the threads so u dont have any leaks.

please rate my answer. thanks.

I had the same problem. My battery was going bad. When I replaced it with a new one, the fuel gauge worked fine.

SOURCE: no air pressure at the hose

It sounds like you have trouble with your pressure regulator. Make sure that the knob for the regulator is turned clockwise to increase pressure. If this doesn't work, you may need to replace the regulator.

SOURCE: gas gauge shows empty after filling gas tank

The gauge circuit is shunted on most cars, this is wierd, but needed to stabilize the readings... Your description sounds like normal function. Drivers would complain if the qauge were to be instant, going around corners, starting, stopping, all move fuel, and the gauge would indicate this, cauing driver alarm...Been this way for ever, although yours sounds like it is on the far side of the scale...if it reads correctly after a while, you could replace everything and you would have the same performance.

How can i fix my ec12 hitachi electric air compressor

This problem is caused by either the starter capacitor or the in-tank check valve. Ez to check. With no air in tank, start compressor; if motor hums or has difficulty suspect capacitor. If motor starts, partially fill tank and unplug the power. Check for air leaking at the pressure switch or air coming out of the air inlet (remove the air filter). If air leaking, replace check valve. If no air leaking, again let out all the from the tank and connect power. Allow the compressor to fill and shut-off. After the compressor fills, again listen for air leaking from the pressure switch unloader valve. If air continues to leak from unloader, replace the check valve. Good luck

Ec12. Runs fine. Tanks fill fine. Just run out of air when using large volume items. i. e. framing nailer, filling tires. Like its taking too long for air to get from tank to end of hose. Almost like there...

You are correct in suspecting the regulator. Easy fix however. Remove the safety pop valve and install a tee fitting. Reinstall the safety on one port and install a quick-connect fitting on the other port. Now you will have access to full tank pressure when you need full power. In the process of regulating pressure, the 1/4 inch port size adjustable regulator will restrict the air volume. A 3/8 port size (larger air regulator ) is less volume restricting however more expensive. You can install a 3/8 port size regulator on your compressor in place of the small one installed now. Other possible trouble areas are too small inside diameter air hose , too long of a hose and air hose that has inner liner torn and is restricting airflow. Good luck

I have a Hitachi compressor EC12. Motor runs okay & air pressure gets upto 125 psi, however, its not giving out any air on my output hose. what is wrong with this? I would appreciated if you could...

When the pressure reducer fails, it may leak around the adjuster or it may close as yours has. A temporary fix would be to remove the safety unloader or a tank pressure gauge and install a tee fitting replacing safey or gauge and install a quick fitting for air. You will only have tank pressure available however this is a temp fix untill you replace the pressure reducer. You do not have to replace with factory parts, there are generic parts available at Lowes or similar stores. For factory parts go to www.toolpartsdirect.com. Good luck with your repair and post again if you have other question.

I have the same compressor with the same problem. I have temporarily eliminated the thermal reset with a piece of 12 gauge hard wire and it runs just fine. However, I do want to replace it before the warm weather come to the north. I tested the draw at 15.5 amps and the reset was a 17 amp. I am told by someone with superior electrical background that I need to install a 20 amp thermal reset in it's place. I have found that mine runs best when plugged directly into a 20 amp circuit and when using an extention cord I have a 10 guage cord that will carry the load needed to run the EC12.

The regulator sounds like it is cranked closed. Try slowly operating the adjusting knob in the opposite direction. As the valve moves, you should see the pressure rise on your gauge (it probably does work).
Hope this helps....now go make something!
