In addition to oil, directing hot air from a handheld hairdryer at the mechanism may loosen it quicker.

NOTE--if your machine is computerized, do NOT apply oil to your machine as it could cause permanent damage!

Open the light cover
put some sewing machine oil on the long round
thingee, just above the black square
let this set for awhile
then use a chop stick or pencil/pen and push down [gently!!] on the square while pushing the lifter down
if this doesn't help, put a drop or 2 more of oil and let it set awhile longer
or use WD-40 to break it loose and then clean the long round thingee and put sewing machine oil on it

SOURCE: The presser foot came off Brothers sewing machine

position the foot under the shaft making sure the horizontal pin on the foot is in line with the horizontal groove on the end of presser foot fitting on the shaft. Lower the pressor foot arm and it should snap right on. If not, press it up manually. the directions should be in your manual. If you don't have your manual, you can get it online at www.brother-usa.com

SOURCE: presser foot lifter is stuck can i fix it

If you can't lift the presser foot up at all undo the presser bar screw on top of the presser bar, if you have a dial turn it to 0, you should now be able to move the lever, if it is still tight put some WD40 on the presser bar and leave it for a couple of hours.

There are loops of thread under the bobbing when i sew

Lift the presser foot and pull about 8" of thread through the needle.

When threading a sewing machine, make sure the presser foot is up as this opens the tension control so the thread can be properly seated and controlled once the presser foot is down.

How do I set the tension on my Necchi 3101? I want to freehand motion quilt on it.

The tension is not changed.

You lower the feed dogs, or change the stitch length to zero and cover the feed dogs by taping an index card (make a hole for the needle) over them.

Be sure to use a darning or free motion foot and have the presser foot down when stitching.

What is the adjustable dial on the left of the machine inside the door and above the needle shaft ...it seems to make the pressure on the presser foot increase...when would you use it?

Hi. That little dial does control the pressure on the presser foot. Generally, you lower the pressure for lighter weight fabrics and increase it for heavier weight fabrics.

Attaching fit button-hole foot?

Just pull down on the original metal foot. It will snap off and then you can snap on the button hole foot. Good luck!
