I have a whirlpool refr 2301880 it has a water dispenser that works in the fridge but the ice maker doesn't get water.

if you keep your hands out of the little beam slot on the paddel that is located on the left of the freezer and push it in the beam should shoot across to the reciever on the right and the light should stay on constant, that is if you have the switch on the right side turned on.

if it is turned on and the paddel is depressed and the light is still blinking the you need a beam kit part number 4389102

there is a tank in the refrigerator section that hlds about 1.5 gal of water as you dispense it refills and pushes out the cold water. if your unit is new it will need a day to cool down the tank of water before you will get cold cold water at the dispenser

I had water out the dispenser, I found that it was the icemaker itself failed not calling for water to fill it. I replaced it with a icemaker on-line for about $100 and problem fixed. I have been told his is a common problem with the icemaker in this model ref.

There can be many reasons for no water supply. Line feeding the refrigerator is clogged or blocked. The water control valve that turns water to ice maker and dispenser is defective or the water filter located inside your refrigerator is in need of change.
