Try a new Remote control, and if that doesn't fix the problem, it may be a remote sensor in the set. Hope this helps. Have a great weekend

SOURCE: Red light flickers, goes off, no heat

I had a similar failure with my Braun WK600. Switch it on and the lights flicker and go out before it boils. Took it apart (Tamper Proof TORX, available from Snap-On, Canadian Tire, probably most auto parts places that also sell tools). The On-Off switch has a mechanical lock out for the lid being open and also for when it is not mounted on the base. The kettle also has three bi-metallic temperature switches. One shuts off the kettle after it has boiled long enough. The other two sit up against the element assembly adjacent to each end of the heating element. They protect against boiling an empty kettle by sensing the higher element temperture when there is no water to conduct away the heat. In the case where the lights flicker and go out, but the switch stays 'On' these are the likely culprit.
In my kettle the contacts did not line up correctly. Instead of making good contact they were only partially overlapping like a couple of the olympic rings or a couple of rings from the Audi logo. This resulted in a localized increased resistance and high heat in one of the contact holders which eventually melted the surrounding plastic. At that point the wires going to the element behaved a bit like springs which forced the contact holder further out of alignment until it all became hot enough to trigger the thermal switch.
I fixed it by bending the contact holder, which is fused into the now hardened plastic, to the optimal position and hopefully it will not generate enough heat to remelt the plastic or trip the thermal switch.
I have boiled a couple of kettleful's; so far so good!

Oh, and if you take your kettle apart and your house burns down it is not my fault.

SOURCE: Polaroid 26inch lcd tvred standby light on but power wont turn on

You need to open it up and checking the voltages in the power supply sections, you should have 5v (for logic circuits), 12v for sound, 24v for backlight inverter circuits. Look for bad caps with bulging tops in power supply also.

SOURCE: The red light stays on

I had this same problem as well. It was after I upgraded the OS I had the issue with my LED red light on constantly. I figured out it was the colorpearl application because it is not compatible with the new 4.5 OS.

SOURCE: solid red light

Have about a 30 second window to replace batteries before all codes are lost and when you put in the new batteries it goes into programing mode. Re-enter codes and try it again. Have the same remote and it has happened to me before.

Hi! My digital box - Matsui DTR-2 has stopped turning on from standby. The red standby light is on, but when I press the on/off button on the remote, the function light only flickers and the standby light...

Hi,

Initially and assuming there was a momentary power interruption, this it is possible that the system has just a glitch and all it needs is a reset. Unplug from the mains for an hours or so to dissipate any residual power and thereafter try again.

Should this be not corrective, then it is possible that the unit has sustained a hardware fault and therefore would require opening up. Further, it needs familiarity with electronic components and circuitry, use of a DVM and a soldering iron as well as access to a service manual or at the very least a schematic diagram with voltage readings. Should you be uncomfortable doing a DIY, then perhaps your best bet would be to call it in for service.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Our remote control for our Jensen JE2608 is not responding - we have replaced the batteries but still nothing - it seems the little light does not come on - do i need to replace the remote??

Normally, when the light does not come on and nothing happens, it means that there's a fault connection inside the remote somewhere critical (Meaning a wire is not touching where its supposed to.)

My brother fixed several remotes, but he's an electronic whiz and used a good deal of soldering.
Give the remote a few good taps (smack it on your hand, never hit hard surfaces), and see if it makes its connection again, even for a moment.

Whether or not this is the problem, it sounds like you'll be needing a new remote. I suggest going to walmart or best buy and talking to an employee about remotes and which ones work for which televisions, and then order one for a decent price online.

Sidenote: Make sure that the batteries are in correctly.
Make sure that the springs in the battery compartment are functioning as they should and the batteries aren't sliding around, even a little.

That's all I got. Hope it helps.
