Have you used any DVD burning software to burn the DVD instead of copying the slideshow to the DVD? You could try Leawo DVD Creator which can make a slideshow and burn the slideshow to DVD.
Many computers can play many file formats,
BUT...
Not all DVD players can play all files.
What file format is the slide show saved as?
AVI?
Download a freeware conversion program (if you don't have one) and try another format.
My latest DVD player plays about six video formats, JPG images, but battles with AVI, due to it's many variations of format (dimensions, resolution, color, frame-rate, interleaving, etc).

I use clone DVD to rip commercial or other DVD's I own onto my hard drive, and from there I use nero to burn them on a new DVD. It works for me. Basically what i'm saying is that as long as you have the right setup of files, in the right DVD file format, your DVD player will be able to play the movie. It doesn't matter if its from the internet. You the files to be in VOB and IFO format, and the Disc needs to have all the files that cue the player on the order of play etc. I suggest you download CloveDVD or any other DVD ripping software, and note the file breakdown you get on the output, and make sure that what you download looks the same. Some DVD players offcourse can play VCDs and DIVx formats(many of the .avi are divx), you should know about yours, I dont think you can alter it. Good luck
SOURCE: Player freezes at same time on almost every disk, and recorder programs won't play on anything else.
The last problem is probably because you have not ?finalized? the DVD yet. Basically what that does is modify how the data is stored on the DVD so that a normal DVD player can read it. It also prevents you from modifying or recording to the disk any more so make sure you?re done before performing this. The part about the freezing is more complex, are these commercially recorded DVDs or something someone else recorded?

you have a defective dvd player. if it is only 3 months old take it back in exchange or repair under warranty. it all depends whom you purchased the item from. you could try running a cleaning disk, but chances are the players needs to be repaired, or replaced. Don't be surprised, i've bougth several in the last couple of years, two i had to take back the same day and exchange them. All of these electronics are made so cheap, it takes two or three units to get one good one. Try to stay away from RCA, Panasonic, and LiteOn.
