I have a HP photosmart 2610 all-in-one. Whenever I make a copy of picture that is in color it will come out with a yellow streak on the side of paper. IT also happens when I scan a color photo. It doesnt happen when I make a black and white copy.
Does it scan to pc with the line?
Replace colour ink cartridge with new
So strange that I have not had a customer with this issue as it seems there are a few of you with this error, I only know the problem to be due to carts / scan glass dirty but you say that you have eliminated these possibilitys by replace colour cart with new, one of you tell me that it does it on scan to pc one of you tell me it don't, makes it a little confusing, because if it does show up when scanning directly to computer monitor then that tells me it is a optical issue, but if it is not there when doing so it points to a printing problem, Optical problem could simply be a case of dirty mirrors/ lens under glass also could be dirty white reference plate, does glass have a "fog" to it?

no it does not scan to pc with a line.
Same problem with photosmart 2610. A 2-inch wide yellow line shows up on a scan that is sent directly to the pc. It also shows up on a color copy that is made from the glass. It does not show up on a black and white copy. Problem started when I changed the black ink cartridge. The cartridges would not align after that but did after I replaced the color cartridge which was low. HP support was no help. First they had me clean the cartridges and the glass, then unplug the printer; then they said it was a hardware failure and want to sell me a new product. They seem to know the problem but won't recognize it even though it is obvious.
Exact same problelm - yellow line which is 2 inches wide shows up on picture scanned directly to PC and also on hard copy of color copy made from the glass. Not present on black and white copy. Problem started after black ink cartridge was changed; printer failed to align cartridges. I replaced the color cartridge which was low. Cartridges then passed alignment but yellow color is worse with new color cartridge. HP support is no help; they had me clean the cartridges and the glass, unplug and plug in the printer, print test page and page from notepad, when it is obvious that the problem is within the printer. Finally they admit that and want me to upgrade to a new one. I think they know the problem and its cause because when it is described it is very obvious that all the yellow color should not be there.
Tried changing color cartridge and black cartridge, problem still there.
How do I get inside to clean it? I made about 10 color copies of a plain white page - interesting that some had the vertical band and then the band was horizontal on a few pages then went back to vertical and not on some pages. I could actually see small horizontal striations on the long vertical band! Seems like the problem HAS to be inside somewhere!
