SOURCE: Hello I have an old Riccar 6800 sewing machine

Hiya, the threading for this machine is pretty standard so you won't be going wrong there. Have you used a sewing machine before? The tension dial (on the extreme left) should be set at 5. The other dial to your left should be on blue zigzag with orange broken line. The dial on the right should be set at 0 and the bottom one on 2 - 3. I've been looking for a manual for this machine as I inherited this one. It took me ages to suss straight sewing out. Another thought is take it to a repairer and ask for a quote. Good luck.

Riccar Reliant 58 top tension not working. I have taken top off and removed the plate that houses the tension plates and dial. Can't get it back on.

No one has documented stripping and replacing the top tension discs and spring. In normal circumstances, no one ever takes them apart. Take the bag of bits into a sewing machine repairer and have the machine cleaned, serviced and timed.

Is there a dressmaker sewing machine with the model no. 777?

In the 1960's, Riccar made a heavy duty 777 sewing machine. Riccar made machines into the 1970's. The headquarters appears to have been in Chicago before it moved offshore. Value of the machine? Maybe $100 if it worked. Parts might be found or salvaged from machines used for parts. However, here is a Riccar shop in South Carolina:

I would be doubtful regarding offers of a manual for sale for this online unless at minimum it was attached to a brick and mortar store in business (and even then might query the local Better Business Bureau).

No model number on Riccar sewing machine

Riccar machines have model numbers placed in 1 of several places on their machines governed by, I suppose, the whims of the manufacturer and the most common places are on the back underneath the motor mount, on the right end bottom under the handwheel, and just under the bed of the machine, front. These numbers are going to be on a metal plate attached by 2 or more rivets. Should you see 2 or more small holes in the casting in any of these locations, it is possible that the plate has been removed. The number that you have supplied is the serial number, and it can be very difficult to determine the model number from this information as the machine is manufactured at a number of different plants/locations.

I purchased a new machine that did not have the Riccar R751 manual included because it was a display model. That business no longer carries the product. I need to find and instruction manual before I can...

in the search engine put riccar manuals
the search should bring up riccar product manuals-click on it
go to sewing machine owners manuals
your model number is ( 9 from the bottom)

Riccor model 939FA thread keeps breaking, not shure if it is threaded correctly, manual lost years ago, thread has been nesting on bottom of material, now just breaking.

Try looking for a manual for your machine here.
http://www.riccar.com/help/manuals/
If your model number isn't listed try looking for a similar model or the number nearest to your machine.
Usually, sewing machines of the same brand thread in the same way. Hope this helps!

I have a very old Riccar 440 model sewing machine which although is in very good condition, has not been used for many years!! We have lost the original manual and when we have tried to use it the thread...

Glancing through the manuals at Riccar's website I do not find a model 440, though there are models 404, 410 and 414. One of those manuals is likely close enough. While it could be a tension problem, breaking thread is usually a result of a damaged or incorrectly placed needle. Also, if you are using old thread, it may no longer have the strength necessary. The first thing to do is replace the needle with a fresh one, making sure that the flat side is to the rear of the machine, and that the needle is fully inserted. It's also a good idea to remove the feed dog cover plate and remove any buildup of lint. Also remove any lint that may be in the area around the bobbin case and hook. Here is a link to the Riccar site where manuals can be downloaded: http://www.riccar.com/help/manuals/
Please let me know how this goes, I think we can get you sewing without taking the machine in for service.
