SOURCE: our artic spa hot-tub is showing HL in the panel

HL is normally a "high limit" fault. If your filter is clean and you have sufficient flow, you may have a faulty high limit sensor. It should be mounted on the heater itself. The high limit sensor shuts the heater off if it senses excessively hot water. Check to see that you have sufficient flow, clean the filter, and make sure the filter pump is running. If everything else is running properly, you may have to replace the high limit sensor.

SOURCE: draind and filled my hot tub (cal spa). electric

When you drain and refill most spas you will get an air lock in the plumbing. You will need to find the drain valve and open it to flood the pipes. It's possible you may have burnt the element and may have to replace it. Hopefully the breaker kicking spared you this expense. Myself I burnt two of them before I learned. Good luck.

SOURCE: i have my hot tub

If the cover and doors are on and everything is working then it should take no longer than about 8 hours.
It could be something simple like the heater is unplugged, or more complex like an airlock or faulty pump motor.

SOURCE: I have a Vita spa

Hi!!
If the motor does not run, the water will not circulate and wont't get hot. I don't believe the wiring or breaker are at fault either, just to be on the safe side, check for tight connections all around, specially the ones coming from the breaker to the motor.
The problem with the motor is that is not getting enough juice to start up, so the start capacitor is most likely to be at fault and needs to be checked, if you don't have a multimeter with the capacitance function, just remove the capacitor and have it checked at the store. You can get capacitors at any appliance parts, electrical and most hardware stores. You can also get a motor start up kit for under $15 to solve this problem. Wiring instructions are included.
The capacitor is usually located on top of the motor, remove the metal casing to access it, before removal, take a picture of the wiring so you can hook it up the same way.
Good Luck!! A HELPFUL - 4 THUMBS - rating for this solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for using FixYa!!

Dream maker spa x-400 won't shut off keeps heating. I have turned it off and let it tottaly cool down the temp max temp is set to 95 and it never shuts off until it gets to 105 and overheats.

I had the same problem last year, I talked to a spa guy and he stated that the temp sensor was probably covered in bio crud. He also stated that the tub should be cleaned with a hot tub flush. After doing that I have not had a problem with the temp settings.

Spa thermal overheating

Turn off all power to the hot tub as soon as you realize it is overheating. The spa should have an automatic shut off when the water temperature reaches about 112 degrees fahrenheit. Call your hot tub dealer or manufacturer for service options. There are a variety of conditions that could lead to the overheating of your hot tub, but may differ in various hot tub models and brands. Check the water level of the hot tub. Low water levels could be the culprit for the over heating, so you may just need to add more water to the hot tub.
Check the shut-off valves in the hot tub. If they are closed while the hot tub heater is on, it could cause the water to reach unsafe temperatures.
Clean the hot tub filter. A dirty filter could be blocking the flow of water, causing the water to sit in the hot tub and overheat.
Turn the power back on after finding the problem and talking to the hot tub dealer. The hot tub will probably not start back up until the water reaches a safe temperature

I received my brand new ez spa today and once I got the water in and pushed test on the gfci the spa came on and so did the jets. I understand that the motor needs to run to heat the water but does the...

Yes, the jets will run anytime the heater is operational. This is neccessary to keep the plumbing from melting, and also to evenly distribute the heated water. Most hot tubs only take 4-5 hours to heat up, but the easy spa takes very long because they use a very small heating element. Usually only 1.5KW.

I just installed my new X400 Dreamaker Spa. I filled it with water (although cold) and it has been warming up for approx. 18 hours and is only at 80 degrees? Is this normal? How long should it take to...

This is normal with the dream maker spa. The dream maker spas are poorly insulated, and only run 120 volts with a very small heater.
When the unit is first filled, the hot tub will not heat full time either. Most new hot tubs will have freeze protection below 50 degrees F. They will recirculate automatically using the friction and the pumps heat to warm the water above 50 degrees, and then the heating unit will kick on. These hot tubs do not heat while the jets are on high either, so once you are in it using the jets on high, the temperature will start to fall.

Now that you are up to 80 degrees, it should heat up fairly quick however.

Hello! the pump on our qca majestic hot tub

If you live in cold weather and are not using it much lower your thermostat. If the freeze control kicks on (at about 38-40degrees) it will constantly try to heat the spa to where you have the heat set when the air temp is low. Hope this helps.

How long does it take to heat the tub

Make sure that the inline heater has power. It should not take very long to heat since your putting hot water into it anyway. The heater is to keep water warm.

Hot tub maintenance

there will be the same amount of basic maintenance on either spa. The difference will be in water chemistry. you definitely want an ozone generator on either spa. Both are awesome Mfg of spas. they both have been around since the 1980's
Ozone will keep the water cleaner, fresher smelling and reduce the total amount of traditional chemicals used in any hot tub.
There are many other solutions for taking care of water chemistry out there without using the traditional types.
some are all natural.
