Ah ha! I just fixed the problem.
The black steam knob is bonded to the shaft. The shaft/knob assembly is removed by rotating the spring keeper on the brass housing the shaft fits into by 90 degrees to allow the shaft to be pulled out once the knob is rotated enough to disengage its thread from the brass housing.
Once the cover over the boiler is removed you will see three thermostats mounted on top of the boiler.
The middle one has the reset button located between the two power connectors. Push it down and you will hear a metallic snap as it resets.
I now have a working La Pavoni Pisa Espresso Machine again and it was free to fix it!
Wooo Hooo!!!

Ok, I own a espresso drive thru for the last 15 years, with 3 locations. Restaurant equipment is expensive. Even if you find the part, which would be hard would not be worth the effort or cost. Here is what you do. Because then sides are plastic is good news. Go down to your local paint or hardware store and pick up a spray can of primer and paint color of your choice , probably black is best to hide cracks. Buy small pint of filler, like body shops use for cracks in plastic bumpers on cars or, something of that sort. Ask the guy at the hardware store he will know what you need. Buy some real fine sanding paper. Ok, now take panels off machine, lightly fine sand it by hand, you know just rough it up up some. Then take small pint or can of putty or crack filler, using a putty knife, lightly spread and fill the cracks, get then quick dry kind. It don't take much , just enough to fill cracks primer and paint will do the rest. After putty or filler drys, lightly sand those area again you filled, so it is smooth. Then put panels on floor( garage or something) on news paper or cardboard or plastic, take your primer and hold can about 6 to 8 inches away and spray both plastic panels completely lightly in a back and forth sweeping motion. You don't need to cover completely because your going to be putting two coats. Let dry between coats about 20 minutes. NOTE: MAKE SURE both primer and paint is quick dry and MADE for plastic. Ok, after primer is on and dry, then going to do the same thing with the paint that you have chosen . Do not try and spray to close and cover completely first coat, or you will get drips and runs. After first light coat is done. Put second coat on, and let dry completely 4 to 6 hours or if able over other. Then install, back and you just saved a lot of money and hassle. Please let know how it goes, feel free to ask any more questions through this simple project. This whole project should take less then a couple hours, and supplies should cost around 20 bucks.
