I have a 1999 electric club car an my question is the battery light is flashing 1long an 1 short does this mean the batteries need to be replaced and it won't charge when the lights are flashing

That usually indicates battery is beginning to go bad. Eventually it will not hold a charge and will need to be replaced.

Your battery may not be holding its charge. Charge the battery and take a voltage reading. Then after a few hours take another reading andsee if the voltage has dropped. If that is alright, refit the battery to the car. turn off all the electrics anddo a voltage test. If the battery is discharging then ou will have to find what componant is drawing the voltage. I normally check the boot through the rear seats first.

Hi I am Vortah The red light is usually an indicator that the battery is charged however in this instance as you are saying it isn't the battery has possibly gone short and you will need to replace the batteries . They have a type of internal memory and only charge a certain amount of times before they no longer accept charge and merely overheat during charging .. But I have to say it may be possible the charger is faulty as if the internal rectifier that charges the battery has gone short that may also bring the red light on in some chargers .. so try the battery or as I would do take it along to your nearest dealers and get them to check it . it may save you money in the long run you could be buying a battery you still cant use when you actually need a charger .. This might work if you aren't using the ORIGINAL charger. I had this problem when my cat chewed through the original Motorola charger. I figured my Blackberry charger would work fine, but it didn't. I then discovered that my Blackberry charger was 700mAH and the broken charger was only 550mAH. When I found another charger with the proper power it charged. I also found that it worked when plugging it into my computer with a standard mini USB. I hope this helps.
