I have a 708cc v-twin Predator engine in my boat. It started right up last week but now it does not seem to be getting any fuel. It turns over but won't start

My boat is a sea Rayder 13ft jet. It does not seem to be pumping any fuel. It will start if you use starting fluid but then dies

SOURCE: 2005 ford ranger fuel pump relay gets hot and engine dies

Like Laurie Mack said. It is the inertia switch below the glove box. Here is some funny information. DON'T change the fuel pump first. Interesting fact: I bought the new inertia switch from Ford and the install instructions that came with it said to install the switch in the protected area to the right where the fuses are. It is like Ford knows it was a dumb place to put the inertia switch, but they won't let you know until after you buy a new one. I have read at least 20 other people on here that had the same problem I just had.

I would chech the ingition module inside the distributor. It's a little black box on the bottom(inside). I'm assuming you have the correct fuel presssure coming from the fuel pump.

Hi! I strongly suggest that you have a PCM (powertrain control module) reset. The PCM has connectivity on all electrical current that runs inside the car including the engine, transmission, accessories, etc. It's like a car's brain that when it's faulty everything else fails. If the PCM can't be resetted specially when it's heavily damaged. I suggest that you have it replaced to get rid of all the troubles. Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!

Have a 23 Vanguard on a mud boat and when engine damp from dew or fog, engine turns over but will not start. When engine dries, starts right up.

Your coil may be getting damp or wet..try using a plastic bag over the coil..or use some spray that will keep the damness out..good luck..

I was fortunate enough to have inherited a boat with a 70hp Evinrude. It has set up unprotected for 10yrs. What can I count on doing to restore this engine or what steps should I take to get it back to...

Clean the carbs.Replace the plugs. Replace the water intake impeller. Replace the foot gear grease. Check all wiring and hoses, replace as sight dictates.Replace the battery. Drain the fuel tank and replace with fresh fuel.If it is a portable tank, replace the tank. Inspect fuel hoses and primer bulb. Grease the steering and motor swivel joints.Remove the plugs and spray aWD40 type solution into the plug holes. Tilt the engine up to do this. Let it sit awhile. Turn the flywheel by hand without the plugs in to loosen the pistons. You may also need to replace the engine thermostats.
These things will get you started and may be all the maintenance you need.
Good Luck.

I have a 150 hp outboard Mercury that is carburated. It has not been ran in more than a year. Boat had quit on the lake last April. Found bad starter. Had rebuilt. Put back on and was able to start in yard...

Did you put a fuel stabilizer in when you laid up the engine. If not varnish will build up in the system and clog the needle valves and jets. Use a good carb and injector cleaner to clear the jets.
