Hi,

Yes, you would need an iPod to RCA Cable that will connect to your iPod and to the RCA Auxilliary input of the Yamaha HTR-5790 7.1 Channels Receiver. Similar to a Cygnett Groove Transit - MP3 Phone to RCA Stereo Cable or an iPod to RCA Retractable Cable.

Good luck and kind regards.

HTR 5790 will not turn on. There was a loud pop (which I am guessing is the fuse?) and than the rec went out.

there is a post to this already about checking your voltage inside the unit on the back right hand side and how that is done. my guess is your system is set up with all your other devices hooked into one wall outlet and you overloaded it. Or maybe used a ext amplifier to increase your wattage. IF you try out holding down the ABCD method as described and press input? it may overide the factory setting when the unit experience any type of power malfunction.

I have a HTR 5650 receiver and a 4gig apple ipod. I am looking for a way to hook my ipod to my receiver so I can hear the music through my receiver, and if possible get the video to my t.v.

Yamaha does make a docking station for the iPod but your receiver doesn't have the input for it. You can use this cable, http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=208112882&listingid=57249305 and connect the cables to the back of the receiver. To set up the iPod tv out settings go here http://macdevcenter.com/pub/a/mac/2005/11/18/video-ipod.html . Good luck!

Is it possible to play my ipod nano through my Receiver?

If it doesn't have a jack made for plugging Mp3 players into it like the new car stereo's do than you just have to go buy an FM transmitter that is made for Mp3 players. It will play through one of your low FM frequency's on your receiver. You can generally pick one up for around $20

No sound coming out of back speakers when watching DVDs

Make sure you have set blu ray player out put to bitstream,if you have set to pcm for hd master audio and dolby true you need to have a amp to decode this and hook up with a hdmi cable. If your amp has hdmi in and out but no high def audio you may still get multi channel audio.

Hope this helps.

Powers on for just 5 seconds then off

Took my Yamaha HTR 5790 to a repair shop for an estimate to repair. Cost me $50 for estimate to be applied to repair. It needed two circuit boards replaced at a cost of $390.00.

SOLUTION... they kept my $50 and I bought a new AV Receiver that WAS NOT a Yamaha.

HTR-5790 shut off problem

WOW this worked.. Hold down the ABCDE and the preset tuning right arrow and then hit power.. It puts it into a diagnostic mode, but it stays on.. I just rerouted my video to not use the receiver  and the audio works perfectly now.
