Electrical troubleshooting for dyson dc25. How to connect wiring correctly.

There is a wiring harness inside the hose and if I remember correctly, another external wire from the handpiece to the head. One of them may have a broken or loose wire. You can check each wire with a multimeter.

If the brush bar motor is running try putting on a new belt. If the motor is not running it may be the main switch, the switch that activates when you recline the handle, the motor itself or a loose wire or connector somewhere. Check the connection between the vacuum and the power head. If power isn't transferred properly the motor will not run.
You have to closely check all these areas to find the problem.

Common problem is a break in the wire where it enters machine, caused by accidently stepping on cable when using vacuum. Unplug appliance from mains then you need to gain access to where on/off switch is (normally one star/Torx screw to remove cover) pull spade connectors from switch then cut about 3-4 inches from cable, strip wires and re-attach to spades then reassemble. A bit of a fiddly task but won't cost you much. Tools required: Torx size 6 and a small crosshead screw driver, wire cutters/strippers, insulation tape, it may be easier to buy new spade connectors as it's difficult to pry them open to re-use. Basic electrical experience (if you can wire a plug correctly you can do this!)

yes the wires are probable not properly connected to the brush bar motor dyson is not like other vacuums if you reverse the wires the motor does not turn it reverse it simply stop rewire it correctly or take it to guarantee vacuum and sewing center for better comsumption they have a lifetime warenty on them that should cover that all dyson vacuums do

I called Dyson because I had a similar problem. When I pushed the red button down on my dc25, but it would not stay down. The vacuum would turn on when the button was pushed down, but of course when I let go of it the vacuum would shut off. The helpful telephone tech. Recognized the symptom right away and told me to push down on the button fully and let It flick up like a lighter. I about fell off my chair when that worked right away! Anyways for what it's worth, she said sometimes the mechanism in the buttons gets consnarlitated (my tern, not hers!) and this resets the spring.

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC25. Your cleaner is equipped with a safety device which shuts off the brushbar if it gets tangled with a rug fringe, shoelace etc. After making sure the brushbar is free of threads, hair or other obstructions, you'll be able to reset the cleaner and get the brushbar running again. Please note, the brushbar will never rotate when the cleaner is standing in the upright position, or if you've turned it off using the silver switch next to the red on/off switch.

hi.
it sounds like the catch on the switch is stuck or broken.
it may be worth spraying it with an electrical switch cleaner to see if that helps.
if not, you will have to replace the switch as they are not repairable.
switches can usually be bought from electrical repair shops .
the switch and wires are basic enough, but unclipping the plastic around the switch can be tricky, and usually involve at least one hidden screw on a dyson, so you may want to consider getting an experienced repair engineer to do the job, to avoid damaging the plastics.

There is a reset button on the side of the brush bar head. Press it.

I had the same problem. I found that pushing the button next to the power button fixed it.
