pull out the spring at the end of the gun. turn the staple gun upside down. Lay the staples in the track pointed side up, push in the spring slide so that it locks. You are ready to staple.

Pull out the part that loads the staples, turn the gun upside down, put the staples in the bottom of the gun and push the loader back in. It took me awhile to realize that you don't load them on the piece that pulls out of the gun.
