this is called cloning
it is not hard and the software is free to do that.
you can google that, its EVERY where this topic,
like saying how to buy shoes,
here is one free one.
The problem child is laptops that do not have 2 HDD bays
are harder to do. (where do you plug in new drive to do the clone.
in my LT I have DVD bay and DVD caddy that allows 2 HDD or 2 SSD, or mix.
one other way is USB to SSD cable SATA adapter. (sold on ebay)
then pick a cloner. https://www.techsupportalert.com/best-free-drive-cloning-software.htm
Here is a video where someone uses the cable and DOES NOT hook it up to their pc. Try this method and see if it works.

Your old computer had IDE interface, the new computer has SATA interface.. There is a thin connector power cord and interface cords with tge same width connectors. The existing hard drive has thes cables connected to it. Connect one power cord and one data interface cable to the cd drive. Connect the audio cable to the cd drive and the Audio IN connector on the motherboard. Unless the motherboard has a ide connector. you can not use your old hard drive or cd. You can get a external drive encloser that can convert IDE to USB
You cannot switch a hard drive from an old ps3 and put it into the new one. The new ps3 will know that a new hard drive was inserted and offer to format it.
To get the games off the old hard drive, put it back into the old ps3. Insert a USB flash drive into a USB port on the PS3 and you should be able to copy saved games from the hard drive onto the USB flash drive. You can then plug the USB flash drive into your new ps3 and copy off the saved game info,
You cannot just connect the hard drive using a SATA to USB cable and connect it to the computer and expect to download data from this hard drive.
You need to connect the hard drive to an USB hard drive adapter which is then connected to a computer's USB port?
Leave the hard drive set as the master drive.
try connecting to a differnt port if it still does the same thing change the usb cable because what i understand is there is a loose connection somewhere ... or the best thing is contact dell at 18006249896 and ask them that u want to change the internal hdd and they will tell u what maximum the system can support and which is available with them ... its their system and if u buy parts from them they have to support u and make sure they both work
Hi, The laptop you purchased is an older model. It will use most any IDE laptop hard drive. The drive you mentioned from your Dell will work in it. You will need to pull the hard drive and put the sliders or hardware off the old one on to the new one. Look here for more info on your laptop. Look under portables. http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp?nav=Download
Hard Drive requires lots of power to load. If you have purchased only the IDE cable to connect it to USB port, USB port will be unable to initialize the Hard Drive. To make it work, you require an external casing for IDE Hard Drives with external power support. Like this one -- http://shopping.rediff.com/shop/productdisplay.jsp?3.5Inch-USB-2.0-EXTERNAL-Casing-For-SATA-/-IDE-Hard-Drives&prrfnbr=10209520&source=browse&frompg=Hard%20Disk%20Drives
If you already have this casing with external power support, please let me know.
