Some models will allow free updates for up to six months from purchase. Even so, you can update your Nextar GPS maps by checking into here:
http://www.nextar.com/frontend/gps_navigation_systems.asp

They will ask you to register your unit if you haven't done so previously. Thanks, Bill

I have had a similar problem and founf this site where you can get a new card that will work for your GPS. Info, pasted below:
The Nextar GPS-MAP09SDC SD card with updated navigational maps and information has a MSRP of $69.99. Please visitwww.nextar.com to purchase the map upgrades and for more information on upgrading your maps.

Check the Nextar website. They did recenlty release a 2009 map update, but if your GPS is not listed as compatible, it's not going to work.

To update the existing map for you Nextar product, please contact Nextar to find out if any new map information has become available. Nextar products are usually pre-loaded with USA/Canada maps, depending on the model. If you need updates

You'll just need to call Nextar customer support and purchase the updated map then you can install it on your device. There's no free map download, you can only get it from them
