SOURCE: front loading washer leaves stains
This often is called "lint" but is really a "whiting" left by un-dissolved soap and can be seen at it's worst on dark colored clothes. This is made worse in a colder climate where the cold water entering the washer is much colder than normal. Things that can effect the quality of the finished washed products.
Too much soap: ( we have a test for this further down the page ) If you follow the manufactures instructions on the box, then chances are you ARE using too much soap. They like to sell you their product, I find cutting usage in 1/2 of what the box says will still wash good and also cut your chances of getting "whiting" on your clothes.
SOURCE: self-cleaning leaves a brown stain on the white part on my oven
Perhaps the door gasket is not sealing well enough. In self clean mode the oven get very hot and vaporizes the fat off the sides. With a leak I think some of the fat is redepositing on on the outside where the leak is. You may need a new door seal.
SOURCE: Stains on clothes after washing
This sounds like the infamous "Frigidaire Flaw" (they make some of GE's washers). The likely culprit is that the bearings on the drum's spindle are leaking.
To diagnose, call a repair man, or pull it out and remove the back cover. If you see brown streaks from the center spindle - that's it.
Repair is cheap if you can do the work yourself (inner and outer bearings), but $300+ for a technician
SOURCE: My Washing machine stains clothes;
I had the same problem, and it turns out that it is NOT the seal. It is the liquid fabric softener. The fabric softener dispenser needs to be cleaned periodically or it gets a black waxy, goopy, build up. It is this same buildup that ends up staining your clothes with dark brown or black stains. Just remove the dispenser and wash it our very well and the problem will be gone.
