Two reasons: Wrong mix and worn parts. You dont say what your mix is (please refer to your owners manual for the proper mix) nor how old your Homelite is. The number will usually be between 30 and 50 PPM. You must measure carefully.

Use only the type and grade oil recommended for your Homelite.

Go to Sears website, search service manuals and you can download it there.

OK if the model number is PD30 go to Hilti.com and type in your model and it will direct you downloads on the right hand side of page go there and under user/owners manual you can download a copy or read it online for this tool.
