SOURCE: problem with John Deere L120 tractor

Park brake switch is the most likely culprit, any other would cause the tractor to not turn over in the crank position.

SOURCE: I have a John Deere l130 and the mower blades

sounds like you have feed going directly from switch as soon as you turn ingition to start mode ?

check wiring back from electric clutch to main switch

possible 2 wires have been placed on main switch instead of pto switch ?

or you have a crossed circuit somewhere (that is feed from another live circuit) not directly connected and its ended up at electric clutch as soon as you liven main circuit

a wiring diagram may help

check with www.johndeere.com
or www.jdparts and enter their site load your model and type
and go to electrical system and print out a copy of wiring diagarm

you may need to supply and user name and apply for password from john deere via their site apply on line

its a good site for info and parts diagrams

cheers hope it helps

My John Deere SST18 tractor will not turn left or right once I engage the PTO on the mower deck I turn the PTO off, the tractor turns just fine. Any ideas that I might try to fix this problem

There are routine maintenance procedures for the steering actuators and filters. See the operators manual.

Manuals are available for download free of charge from the John Deere website.

https://techpubs.deere.com/en-US/Search/Equipment#

This may not be the problem but is a good place to start.

Blades won't engage on John Deere x540.

I would remove the PTO switch and have a Deere dealer test it. Also on the 500 series the PTO operates through the ignition control module which is under the dash, you can see it when you raise the hood. It is black and about 2" wide x 3" long and 1" thick.

John Deere eztrak mower went over a rock today and now the mower won't engage

hmm strange are the belts driving the blades ok if so then the PTO could be damaged but if there's no sign of damage it maybe a bit frozen up/locked up have the engien off but turn the key on and engage the PTO switch and manually turn the PTO (not by the blades please....dont want to have your hand taken off) turn by the PTO itself and if you hear any clicking sound disengage the PTO and engage a few times to ensure your hearing the clicking sound of the PTO turning on and off and it should be back to normal also check any connections going to the PTO before doing the manual work of repairing the PTO

Trouble shoot a John Deere lx 188 clutch?

Sounds like new belt is jammed or something is out of place. Turn by hand and find out where the problem is. You can tell where the belt is stuck or jammed. Pull the key before you mess with stuff underneath the unit. I installed my belt the wrong way on my unit and ruined a new belt and it would not shift.. The shifter rod could have been dislocated when you installed the belt also.

I had just started cutting grass with my John Deere L120 riding mower when the blades stopped turning. I thought the belt had broke or come off so I pulled into my garage to investigate. I turned the mower...

You have several safety switches on your unit. The engine should not start if the PTO safety interlock is engaged. Be sure PTO switch is off.
If the sarter Does Not Work Or Will Not Turn Engine Brake pedal is not depressed.
or the PTO is engaged.
Battery terminals are corroded. or Fusible Link in starting circuit is blown - (Not likely unless bad wires) Here is a link to your wiring diagram (maybe your model)

http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=Pq1tOfiS
Notice how the starting circuit goes through the brake pedal (must be depressed) and the PTO switch (must be disengaged) and that the PTO only works with operator present. Print that page while link still works.
