SOURCE: sediment in my electric tea kettle

it is very hard to get rid off ass the sediment comes from the tap water untill you boil the water you dont see this sediment and take it for granted that the water is clean but as soon as you put it in a electric kettle this sediment builds up on the element then it brakes off and floats around in the kettle most new kettles have a filter near the spout so when you pour the water out it traps it in the filter then this can be removed and cleaned but the sediment floating in the kettle is hard to get out you can clean the element and descale it and then just keep pouring water in and out of kettle till its all out but it will soon build up again there are two ways to stop sediment one is filter all the water before putting in kettle but this can be slow process so not worth doing or the best sollution is buy a kettle that has a filter by the spout of the kettle and clean this regularly hope this is some help to you............................................

Le creuset classic kettle replacement whistle

The replacement whistle for Alessi 9033 kettle allegedly fits Le Creuset classic kettles. See the customer comments on amazon. The only other replacement I've found is a genuine one on UK ebay.

The whistle does not work, any ideas on a fix?

Check if there is any blockage in the whistle. the whistle will not blow if there is a leak in the steam.so check if the lid is closed tight. There mite not be any big problem.

Used my pot, scrubbed with scratch free sponge but the bottom is grey! is it still safe to use

Is it an enamel pot?? If so, yes its fine to use - after time all enamel pots do get a 'worn look'!

I burned potato soup in my Le Creuset dutch oven.

Go buy a scraper for a ceramic hob and a can of barbeque or oven cleaner.

Spray the cleaner on and leave it for 15 minutes put on a pair of rubber gloves and use the scraper to break the surface of the burnt on stuff.

Make sure you keep the blade of the scraper as flat as possible to the surface of the pot.

Once you have scored some of the surface spry on some more cleaner and repeat the process

I clean off burnt casserole dishes using that method

Smell and taste from water after it has been boiled in kettle. Water from tap, or boiled in a pot has no taste or smell. We are ina soft water area and have no limescale. anyone else complained?

It must be the kettle causing the problem from what you say. If th e kettle is new the problem should reduce with use but if it is old it will get worse (possibbly due to rubber washers/seals perishing)

My oval Le Creuset dutch oven is cracked on the side. Any way to fix it?

Yes there a foundation repair solution that should repair it sufficiently. Check at Home Depot or Lowes. Any hardware store should be able to help you out.

My detatchable kettle is not getting electricy from the cord to the kettle

If you are in the UK it could be a blown fuse in the plug, if not a loose wire or contact in the base..
