Set up a Wireless printer on your Router for use with a wired PC

First install the Wireless printer driver using the Wizard by connecting either the Ethernet cable to the router during the install process when asked this will set up your wireless laptop with the correct printer port based on the Wireless Node Name it will also use the printers inbuilt MAC address. This is standard install and will work for all your Wireless PC's however if you have a Wired (ethernet) PC connected to your Router this process will not work a wireless port will not work with a wired computer.

Follow my 3 steps below to set up standard IP ports for Wired PC's also connected to your Router.

STEP 1: Find your MAC address for the wireless printer (all types of Network Cards will have one so this is no different) this will either be found under the LCD control panel or may even be printer on the bottom of the printer or Print server if it is seperate set this MAC address with an IP address as a reservation in your admin panel of your router 192.168.0.10 in this example.

You can normally enter your Router this using 192.168.0.1 typed in your browser (not the search engine) as all routers are different check here for your make and model http://www.routerpasswords.com if you can't find the MAC address try using ipconfig /all from them command prompt it will be the physical address aka the MAC address

STEP 2:
Install the Printer as a USB printer port by connecting the USB cable to the PC you want the wired printer driver installed on when finished go to the printer driver properties for the driver you have just added, click the port tab and click add standard IP port as shown below, then disconnect the USB lead this is only required to make sure the correct inf file is used on the driver install and connect your Ethernet cable from you computers NIC to a spare RJ45 socket on the Router.

STEP 3: To check that the Printer has the correct IP address then test using the tracert OR ping command for the IP address that you have reserved on your router, this is a necessary step otherwise when the lease expires it may take another IP address and your Printer driver will not work unless your printer has the reserved address, it will throw a printer error.

c:ping 192.168.0.10

(this example shows a Standard TCP/IP Port for a Brother DCP-340CW)

Also check in your routers admin panel to see if the Wireless Printer is set up with the correct IP and MAC address, if you still can't find it eliminate your known MAC addresses from all your network cards the one left will be your Printer Server NIC in your Wireless Printer.

If you have setup the incorrect IP and or MAC address you will get this window when you try to add the TCP/IP port

That's it try a test print and you will see it burst into life.... Happy Printing

Google com

1) Go to printers and scanners
2) clixk on the + sign in the left corner
3) a new window appears. There should your wireless printer appear ( Bonjour)
4) add your wireless printer

If you the printer does not appear then there might be something wrong with the Macbook or the wireless printer or / and the network.

Go to app store and download IP Scanner for free
This utility gives information about wireless devices in your environment.
If the printer pops up then try to connect to the printer in Safari by using the IP address. If this does not work then try another computer and verify the settings of your Macbook.

I have a wireless printer and it won't connect. I tried text sopport for the printer and was told that the router needs to be insinck to the mac address . I would like to know if you could tell me how to...

Setting up wireless printers can be such a hassle!
The quickest solution is to let the router sync the mac address itself, don't worry about the details of it all. Easiest way is to start wired, before you go wireless.
When setting up the printer to work with that wireless router, hook your printer up directly to the router/computer the router is connected to. This will allow for the printer/router to recognize each other and establish a connection. Then, when you use a wireless connection (wireless on laptop/ on printer also), they will recognize each other and you'll be able to connect.
This is much less of a hassle than trying to set up wirelessly.
Best of luck!

My printer shows online, but my mac says it isn't... Help please?

You have to setup mac for wireless as well as setting up the printer to look for wireless gadets.

Printer Window/Tools/Internet/Wireless Wetup Wizard. Same with the Mac. I'm not familiar with mac, but should think it too has a control panel and wireless setup wizard?

2170W wireless connection to mac computers

My suggestion would be to connect an ethernet cable from the printer to the router. This is a more stable connection for the printer on the network.

All of your wireless computers will be able to connect to it and print to it as long as they are connected to the network.

To get the printer back in wired mode, you will need to reset the printer and network card of the printer.

1. Turn off power
2. Hold down go Button while switching back on
3. Wait 2 secondes before letting go and press the go button 8 times quickly
4. Wait for the unit to finish warming up
5. Repeat steps 1 and 2
6. Wait 2 secondes before letting go and press the go button 7 times quickly this time
7. Wait for the unit to finish warming up then plug in the ethernet cable.

Hey, i recently got a Mac and tried to connect my Z1420 wireless Lexmark printer to it. The wireless did not work, but when i connected it via USB the printer worked. I settled for this but recently the...

You stated you have a mac. Is your Mac a laptop that provides wireless? Or are you on a Mac desk top connected to a router that has wireless included with it.. If you have either than you need to go into your network and sharing to set-up the wireless printer. This will give you access to your router via desktop or your wireless settings via laptop,
Once there if you are already using wireless settings you are going to have to allow your printer in through your wep or wap encryption settings. This was set up when you first started using your wireless to keep out intruders.

Mac printer Hp Printer

It's because your printer is set for sharing on a windows based network. Mac has a different network for sharing printers not compatible with windows.

The only way to get it to work on the network is to get a print server either wired or wireless and connect the printer that way to your network. Then everyone can use it.
