I opened up the face plate too, on the back of the PCB there were some contacts with black rust and they expanded over other contacts quite a little so they were in short circuit. Just cleaned them with a mildly damp cloth, the PCB came back to its natural green and now it works, I can access all the vehicle functions.

Switch the radio on and leave it switched on without interruptions for at least 2 hours and it should automatically reset itself

Switch on using the ON and AS buttons pressed together

Then LEAVE SWITCHED ON ...UNDISTURBED for as long as it takes to automatically reset itself

Once reset , enter the correct code

Press AS and your radio should work

HOW TO ENTER A BLAUPUNKT RADIO CODE


Switch the ignition key ON

Press and hold AS button * and the ON button at the same time

Display Shows SAFE then goes to 10 - - - - with a "Beep" from the speaker

Press Preset Button " 1 "repeatedly until the 1st Digit of your Code is displayed
Press Preset Button " 2" repeatedly until the 2nd Digit of your Code is displayed
Press Preset Button " 3" repeatedly until the 3rd Digit of your code is displayed
Press Preset Button " 4" repeatedly until the 4th Digit of your code is displayed

If the display now shows the correct Code number then

Press Button AS and hold to Enter and if successful there should be a "Beep" from the speaker and the radio should switch on

leave it switched on..undisturbed for as long as it takes to automatically reset itself.

Remove the secuirty panel from the front o f the unit.
with a small fine flat bladed screwdriver remove the two facia strips - one either side, CAREFULLY! they are on clips.
You should find four 10mm bolts holding the whole frame in, remove these and you may need to fit a subframe to re-fit your new unit.
Fit your new unit or frame into place, replace the bolts - don't over tightem them - and the trim.
