I need USB drivers to allow communication between a pc running Windows XP and an NCR 7875-1000 flatbed scanner/scale. Please copy me at my work email address of [email protected].

Hi there,

First I'd like to thank you for selecting my services. I've located the software for your NRC Scanner scale 7875. You can obtain firmware and related tools from http://www5.ncr.com/support/support_drivers_patches.asp?Class=retail_RealScan

As for the windows drivers they are available for you here http://www.digi.com/support/productdetl.jsp?pid=2628&osvid=57&tp=1&s=0&tp2=0

Select windows xp from the drop down list and then the 4002537_h is the one your looking for, version 5.3

I'll send a copy to your email address.

Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks,
Ekse (Niko Ohtonen)

NCr + nCr-1 = n+1Cr prove it?

The identity (n+1)Cr=nCr+nC(r-1), valid if n>=1 and 1=0. These facts embody the construction of Pascal's triangle and let you prove by induction (on n) that nCr is always an integer since it's either 1 or it's the sum of two integers.

You can also think of the combinatorial definition of nCr, the number of r-subsets of an n-set. This is definitely an integer. Of course then you'd have to prove that the factorial expression for nCr is correct...

The nCr are binomial coefficients with the property that n+1Cr = nCr-1 + nCr (think of Pascal's Triangle) with nCn = 1 = nC0. Since 0C0 = 1 it follows that all nCr are integers

A Committee has 19 members, of which 10 are Democrats and 9 are Republicans. A subcommittee is going to be formed with 3 Democrats and 3 Republicans. How many possible subcommittees can be formed?

How many ways can you select 3 members out of 9 republicans: nCr (9,3)
How many ways can you select 3 members out of 10 democrats: nCr(10,3)
For each single choice of 3 reps you have 1*nCr(10,3) possible subcommittees.
Hence the total number of possible suncommittes is nCr(9,3)*nCr(10,3)
Explictitly
# of possible subcommittees is [9!/(3!*6!)]*[10!/(3!*7!)] or 10080

To calculate you can use the explict formula above or use the nCr function of your calculator

To access the nCr( function press [2nd][5] (MATH) [7:Probability][3:nCr]

You can also just type the name of the command respecting the case ( C must be upper case)
