Here's the manual for the AcuRite Weather Forecaster. If it's not showing the outside temperature, make sure the A-B-C switch is set to match the display unit. Try taking the inside unit outside as close to the transmitting unit as possible for three minutes. The signal might lock on to the setting you want to receive.
I've had the same problem since I bought this unit 2+ years ago; when the outside temperature moves into the freezing zone, the sensor stops transmitting. I contacted Lacrosse-- all they could suggest was change the batteries. My solution: throw it in the trash!
