I have a Dell XPS M140 laptop. I have always been able to use WiFi with no problems. Our service provider installed a new router in our home and now the laptop will not connect to WiFi. Our other devices are using our WiFi connection without problems. The wifi is on but will not let me connect. I have used FN F2 with no change. Help!

Is this the XP operating system the virus magnet?
surely the ISP told you the credentials, to login, no.
1: SSID (broadcast name for your wifi local)
2: WEP/WPA/WPA2 encryption, which is it? you must know this. (if you can't set MPA2,upgrade the card)
3: the login passphrase, or you cant log in.
this laptop is now 13 years old. today.
many that old, (yah old) do not do WPA2 encryption at all
the chip for that is not so good.
i see the dell parts list shows 4 wifi cards used, options new.
here are the HP drivers.\\

XP needs SP3 loaded or WPA2 will be dead.
never run XP
never run XP lacking SP2 service pack 3 from MS.com
quote:
When using Windows to manage the wireless adapter, Windows XP SP3 or XP SP2 with Wireless Client Update is required for WPA2 authentication and encryption.
read Verizon's page. shows it simply.
but you must set WPA2 if your ISP force that.
WPA2 is most secure, WEP is dangerous.
why no up grade this PC to Windows 7?

I bet no SP3 loaded ! right, ?
or they switched you to WPA2, and did not tell you they did.
many top ISP put a sticker on the router rear
with the new credentials or hand you a card with them.
many ISP that own that router, not you ,
you have no pass word to the router, to even see what the setup is.
if you own the router sure you can by...
read the routers manual
go to that IP address there. per manual
it tells you how to setup the router manually
using a browser.
or just look at the wifi settings.
got there, if can, and read them and write them down. now.
then we can connect .

Fn/F2 probably turns the wifi on/off but your problem is you need to connect to the new device, and enter the new password. In the tray (notification) area, click the Network or wifi icon, find the new device (You may have to click Connect first.), connect to it and enter the password when prompted.

You may need to upgrade the htc wizard to use 102.11g networks. You can do this yourself if you follow these steps. Google a program called total commander. download and install it on your phone. Now open total commander. Listed on the very top of the folders list will be \\ -Click on \\ -then click registry (you are now in the devices registry, be careful not to change other things) - select hklm (this stands for Hkey local machine) you need to go to this location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMM\TNETWLN1\PARMS (so you would choose comm, then scroll down to tnetwln1, then select that and scroll down to parms and select parms) then assign the follow changes to the keys listed in PARMS... Assign a value of 1 to dot11SupportedRateMask Assign a value of 8 to dot11SupportedRateMaskG Perform a soft reset (do this by holding the power button for roughly 6 seconds, until a box comes up asking you if you want to shut off the device. Turn it off, then turn it back on and the changes will go into effect) Then simply try to log on your router Peter

You will need to talk to the IT lead at your job to see if he has given you proper allowances to access the VPN server.
You also may want to check the errors or prompts screens that the the PC is giving this will tell you what the next step is.
Please provide more information as to you issue your issue is not complete as to what you are experiencing for your VPN connection.
2. check the VPN configuration in your PC also there may be a firewall issue here that is not allowing you to connect.
