I suspect either a faulty thermostat or damper, based on all my research. I've found instructions to put it into troubleshooting mode, but this particular model does NOT have the +/- temp buttons for starting the troubleshooting mode. It, instead, has temp adjustment arms that sweep left/right in the top of the fridge side. HOWEVER, there ARE buttons on the Super plus water/ice dispenser in the door, but I cannot find info on how to use them to troubleshoot the fridge. How can I troubleshoot to know which is my culprit, before buying parts? How can I force the damper to operate and likewise, how can I force the thermostat to operate?
There are three variations of your model# ending in eb,eq and ew with slight variations of each model.Typically on these the thermostatically controlled damper will go bad and unfortunately these were produced before whirlpool acquired them in 2006. Since then, most parts have been discontinued.
An easy check is to put your hand under the vent and slide the lever from coldest to warmest.. If it is working then you will feel a very significant change in the amount of air coming out. The thermostat itself controls the freezer temp and is balanced by the damper so if that was bad then your freezer temp would be either way too cold or too warm.

you should not be able to push the stripper at all so that tells me that the gear on the icemaker module is bad. get part number 8201515 and you should be fixed up.

If there is a reset button on your ice maker try pushing it. Many ice makers have two holes for reset. A general rule of thumb is if the ice maker fingers are stopped in a slightly vertical position then your ice maker unit is working. If the fingers are stopped anywhere else then it needs some sort of attention or replaced. Make sure there is water, or ice in the ice maker tray, if not then the problem is with water supply.

there are two water inlet valves on the back of refrigerator, one for icemaker the other for water in door. the valve for the water inlet is plugged or the soelinoid coil is bad. replace faulty valve, usually about 20 to 30 greenbacks at the appliance parts store
