It only supports MP4 format, so that is what you need to convert the videos to. Here are the specs: http://www.shopping.com/Power-Acoustik-PTID-4003TV/info

SOURCE: Hello, My Dvd player toshiba

According to the Wikipedia, "DVD region codes are a DRM technique designed to allow motion picture studios to control aspects of a release, including content, release date, and price, according to the region. DVD video discs may be encoded with a region code restricting the area of the world in which they can be played.

The DVD Copy Control Association in California, USA, requires that DVD player manufacturers incorporate the Regional Playback Control (RPC) system - according to the Australian government's anti-monopoly watchdog, the ACCC. It is therefore this US Association that is responsible for the RPC system that effectively divides the world into six regions for the purposes of controlling and manipulating distribution within the global DVD market.

There are six different official regions and two informal variations. DVD discs may use one code, a combination of codes (Multi-Region), most codes (Region 0) or every code/no codes (Region All). The commercial DVD player specification requires that a player to be sold in a given place not play discs encoded for a different region; however, region-free DVD players are also commercially available. In addition, many DVD players can be modified to be region-free, allowing playback of all discs
."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD_region_code

So, the disk you inserted in your DVD player must be from a different zone from the one it was select to play originally.

Unfortunatelly, I searched for a firmware to be installed in your DVD player to make it region free, but I did not manage to find one for this specific player. Sorry...

Hope this information helps you understand why your DVD player is behaving like that.

MP4 is a codec that is not compatible with this DVD player. Your DVD player will play store bought DVDs just fine. Please read the specifications in the owners manual to see what codecs are compatible with your player.

I cant play some blu-ray disc how can i get some of them to work

since it doesn't have enough RAM in it, some BDs or larger multi-layer DVDs fail to play/load entirely Its slow to buffer BD, and even slower to upscale DVDs. It doesn't support homemade DVD+/-R movies. It also doesn't support video on CD.

SOLUTION:
to get the movie to play add a 4GB SD card into it and format it for use as extra memory. Apparently, some BDs require a lot of memory. By adding the SD card, DVDs and THE BDs load faster and have no play problems. The overall downside to the RAM issues and the SD card is that, when the SD card gets full, you will have to reformat it to get anything to play. Tho, all lost disc info needs to be rebuffered onto the card the next time you watch the movie.

I HAVE A POWER ACOUSTIK PTID-8970NRBT MY PROBLEM MY SCREENSAVER

Here is what I received from Power Acoustik for screensaver and desktop saving from SD card. "You need to have the remote in hand. Insert a memory stick or SD card that has the images you want to use. When the image is displayed, press the pause button on the remote. Then touch the screen to bring up a set of icons on the bottom. If you do not see an icon with a hand, press the arrows that are in a circle until you do. Once you see the hand, press it one time. It will save the image onto the internal memory. You will find the image in the screen tab in settings, under all the stock images."
