Disconnect power and let it set for a day. The battery should run down and shut off. Plug it in and it should reboot.

Pull the front faceplate off. There is a small indentation under the word Garmin which you could use a finger nail to lift off the faceplate. After the faceplate is off, on the right side is a reset button. Hold it down for 3 seconds and then try powering up the unit. If the battery is completely dead you might have to recharge the battery for about 10-15 minutes to get it to start.

You will have to send it to Garmin with your original receipt and they can reload the maps your unit came with. There may be a charge for this service.

When turning on our Barmin Nuvi 1200 it takes at least ten minutes for the navi to start. The screen just shows ; Loading maps.

You can try to reset the 1200. You can reset by pressing and holding the power button until it reboots.
If that does not work you can try a hard reset but it will clear out some of your favorites and saved locations back to like when it was new.
Power off the unit; then while holding your finger on the lower right corner of the screen while turning it back on.
Keep your finger pressed until a window appears. Choose YES to clear all data and return the 1200 back to factory settings. I will attach the Garmin customer support info.

I have Garmin Nuvi 265W. When I plug my car charge to charge up the battery and use the Navi at the same time, I only get the "GARMIN" screen connected the computer but can't use Navi function...

Try a hard reset, the Hard Reset procedure has been known to delete your Favorites, so back them up beforehand.
  1. From the Nuvi drive, copy '/Garmin/GPX/current.gpx' to a backup location on your computer.
  2. After the hard reset, copy your backed up 'current.gpx' from your computer back to the '/Garmin/GPX/' folder on the Nuvi, but be sure to rename it 'temp.gpx'.
  3. On the next power cycle, the Favorites will be read from 'temp.gpx' into the non-user accessible memory area on the Nuvi where they are actually stored.
Perform the Hard Reset:

*Note that this will clear all user selected settings on the unit
  1. Power the unit off.
  2. Press and hold (and continue to hold) the bottom-right corner of the screen while powering the unit on.
  3. Continue to hold the screen until the "Do you want to erase all user data?" prompt appears.
  4. Press "yes" and the unit will reboot. This resets all your location settings and user preferences
Then make sure the unit is fully charged, then go to the Garmin site and register your product. Then download Garmin Updater and connect your unit with a usb cable directly to your computer and not thru a USB hub. Let the update go directly to the GPS and not a folder. It will take a few hours even with a fast internet connection. I have attached a link to the Garmin site. Thanks for using FixYa

Garmin navi will not connect to computor so i can register

You may need to replace the usb cable that you are using to connect this device to your computer.

There's just 4 steps on how to connect garmin navi to computer.
1. Connect the mini-USB end of your USB cable to the back of the Navi.
2.
Turn on your PC and connect the standard USB end of your USB cable to the USB port on your personal computer
3.Power on the Navi and give the computer time to recognize the device.
4.Click "Start," then "Computer." The Navi hard drive should be among those listed under "Devices with removable storage." You can click on the Navi's drive icon to access your Garmin device

Frozen Screen

I had this problem and the only way to solve a frozen screen is to let the unit run out of battery and bring it back to life. Battery will die out on you for 6~8 hours. Once battery is dead you must do the following.

Waking up your c330...

If you left your Garmin c330 on running the battery will have 1% life left. If you turn c330 back on again, it will flash screen for 3 seconds then die, even charging it at this point will not wake it back up. TO BRING IT BACK TO LIFE... plug in the power home or car into Garmin c330. There is a tab in the front Garmin gray frame of your screen. You must take like your fingernails and under the logo "GARMIN" pull the whole gray plastic frame off. Underneath the plastic frame to the right hand side. There is a "RESET" button. Make sure power is plugged in while hitting reset. Your battery should come back to life. Cheers

Cant enter pin or screen is frozen

Look near the SN # and press the reset button.

or

with the garmin off, hold down the right bottom of the screen and turn the garmin on, it will then ask you if you want to perform a hard reset. Choose yes and that should fix your problem.
