My Onkyo TX2100 has no sound for FM and AM but sound for other components (CD, phone). I see in my display "FM Mute On" is showing. I do not see a button to switch off (if this is the problem).

I recently changed the speaker wire and looked in the manual.

SOURCE: Pioneer X MT- 2000 Stereo Bookshelf Unit - No sound!

It definitely sounds like it took a surge. yhe Power Amop IC in those things are pretty sensitive. Any decent repair shop should be able to repair it for under $125.

I can't get sound out of my amplifier and I haven't changed anything. What could be the problem?

Start by choosing FM on a known frequency with a station broadcasting and volume is turned down to a NORMAL listening level. Next, make sure speaker selector isn't the wrong position (make sure "SPEAKERS OFF/A/B/A+B is set to A [or B to match the speaker terminal connections]), check to be sure "Mute" function is not activated by pressing the MUTE button on the remote to toggle it between on & off, Make sure headphones are disconnected. Make sure "PROTECT" is not displayed on the front as this indicates a shorted speaker wire - shut off and repair the shorted wire(s).

If you get sound on FM, but have an issue with another external component (CD, DVD, Phono, etc.) check the cables between the component and the input panel on the rear of the STR-DE595.

I hope this helps & good luck!

I AM GETTING VERY LITTLE SOUND FROM THE SYSTEM

When did this start? What happened just prior to that?

Turn the volume DOWN for any further analysis. If it isn't loud enough to hear well at 1/4 volume, cranking it to the stops will not resolve it AND when you finally find the misplaced switch you may launch all of your speaker drivers right out of their cabinets.

Do you mean the MUTE button does not CHANGE the volume? It sounds like you're muted already and it doesn't UNmute. Is MUTING lit on the display?

Does it happen with all sources? Use onboard FM to troubleshoot as it can't be connected wrong.

No sound from Sub Pre-out on Onkyo TX-SR606

Also, it could possibly the preout terminal itself that is not working. One way to prove that is by transferring the subwoofer cable from the preout and temporarily transfer it to the tape out section. If it ouputs sound from there, then that means the speaker and the cables are working fine and it's just the preout terminal itself that is not picking up anything. ^_^

No Sound for AM/FM Radio

Ensure that the antenna is still attached. It will auto-mute if no signal is attainable.

Surround sound

It must be about the sound quality need of your amplifier. The sound processor simply needs to get clear signals from sources such as fm/am receiver, dvd/cd players etc. in order to manage'em to give you the optimum surround sound. If the fm receiver has an "FM MUTE" option, I recommend that you turn it on. By doing so, you'll receive only good quality fm stations, furthermore your amplifier will let you get surround sound. The second issue you mentioned has its own answer inside. Use a "new" cd player, you can get optical cables, digital coax cables to improve the performance if you like..
