How to raise the glasstop Frigidaire range - Frigidaire Kitchen Ranges

Trying to replace the glasstop on my Frigidaire PLES389DCC. I have followed the posted instructions. I have removed the 4 front screws as directed. I am still having difficulties removing the front control panel, are there some clips or snaps that free the panel? I do not want to break it since it still feels like something is holding it in place.

the cook top is screwed down with several different screws it does not just lift up.what is the reason you want to raise it up.

yes it is true, the heat transfer will be to great and will crack or explode the glass. definately not recommended.

To remove the top,open the oven door and the screws for the top are located on the top of the door opening,remove the screws and the top will open,then you will see 2 screws that hold each element in place,just remove the one not working.

Check the element connections for good tight connections in both connectors. If ok, swap the element with one of the same size working elements and see if the swapped element works. If it does, replace the element. If it doesn't, the control switch or switch connections are the problem.

You can buy just the glass for your glasstop stove. I too need to replace my glass...I have a whilpool electric glasstop. Its not cheap...may just buy new stove. I priced just the glass for my whilpool at the cheapest I can find for $320.00. Thats a lot. Mind you its not the elements under the glass..its just the glass! So...idk bout you, but a whole new stove might be my best option. If you want to price the glass for your model just keyword search your number and brand of stove and type replacement glass. GOODLUCK! :)

It is the burner control (behind the knob). The triac in the control has failed. $50 item, 10 minute change. Just make note which wire goes to which terminal.

I doubt that it is the control board, as the board has little to do with the stove top, but rather controls the display and the oven temperature/feedback monitoring.
